Yes it would have been good to have that type of player.
    With regard to losing money.
How much money have the new owners lost if we don’t go up???
Not just in the revenue generated - but also in the valuation of the players - a player playing in the Championship usually being valued more than a Division 1 player.

Can't say. There are a few factors to consider - most in our favour - but I don't know what they are willing to spend as a percentage of their turnover. Not sure why you'd be amazed if theirs was higher.

Why do you think Luton and Charlton should have a considerably higher budget?

Talking about sunderland and Portsmouth and I said I would be amazed if their playing budget was lower not higher - meaning wages and transfer spending.

    Sunderland deffo higher spending.

Portsmouth I would guess similar to us, but probably more. They have bigger crowds than us, but can’t remember if they are discounted tickets or not?

I agree - but the danger is over-spending and still not getting promoted. Then having a bigger loss. Although I suspect certain players this wouldn’t affect as they have Champ experience from last year - but yeah, I know what you’d mean. We’d be selling cos we had to.

I’m sure even with the sale of Potts, we’re still at a financial loss this season. Can’t remember exact figures. But maybe just under £1m? I stand to be corrected though.

Would think this about right, it’s readily accepted Sunderland’s is higher, not sure about Portsmouth, but there was a piece on there Chairman where he said their progress had to be steady and not bankrolled.

Thing is, if we get promoted players will want to stay for the rewards associated with the new situation, so we gain promotion money but lose out on player sales.
If we stay where we are then any player is a saleable asset and could be moved on for profit as per the plan, so we get money that way.
Do the owners actually lose money by not getting promoted? All comes back to "the plan".

I'm sure you told me last season Burton had a bigger budget than ours based on that it will still be the same and there will be plenty with a higher budget.

So the question is why are we allowing this to happen and is a criticism of the owners and not the manager.

They will lose money if we don’t get promoted unless there is a fire sale.
