And I used the term 'overall' which I still claim is correct. 'Overall' the players are not a great unit (and that includes the relativity of playing in L1). I do think there is enough raw physique in the team if used properly but for me it is a general 'skill' thing. Obviously some players will be better than others as in any squad.
Your right kami, they are not skilled enough, they like a glorified sunday league club thats organised. After all there all from the bottom of the league and always will be. The clubs an academy now to bring on players to sell on.
Virtually every club outside a small elite exists by bringing on and selling players, but to describe the team you support as Sunday league, when they've only lost 6 games all season is really scraping the barrel of negativity.
So we have an unskillful glorified Sunday league team that has conceded less goals than any other team in the league and only Luton have scored a lot more. Thank fuk were not Bradford
It’s not quality we lack. There’s 4 players in the league 1 team of the season, best defence and Moore and Woodrow up front over the season. What we are lacking is experience
Nope... you're wrong. They are actually not as good as Poggy Rec but are on inflated wages with a manager that should be banned under new Brexit legislation and financed by a board which has still failed to deliver noodles on a pre-match basis. That's really what I meant to say but the words wouldnt come
Anyway... I've done with this thread now. I've stated my views and I stick to them even if we go up! Regards
The OP's opening sentence is correct. "Ultimately there isn't enough quality in the squad". Enough quality in our fully fit first choice XI...yes. Enough quality in the squad as a whole...no. Consequently, there isn't enough serious competition for places and some of our first choice XI are becoming jaded and stale.
Of course we're weakened. No one's disagreeing with that, but there is still enough quality in the team to beat all our final 5 opponents. Whether they'll do it is a different matter. There's a lot of difference between attributing our poor form to lack of strength in depth and poor skill sets and ability. These lads are capable. They put together a solid winning performance, which admittedly is overdue, and things look a lot different.
