Exactly that, yes. It would come under common assault but if he's had teeth knocked out then thats ABH. Will depend on a lot of factors to the outcome.

Not a nice family, not a nice man.
Above and beyond acceptable behaviour for senior management and a representative of his club.
Hope the efl...fa do something that hurts him.

Fleet wood must be looking for a new Manager now. Even if he's not charged they don't want that ticking time bomb in charge do they?

Too many protectionists in the game for anything really meaningful , sure they’ll be condemnations etc etc . But when you look at the people still in the game for certain activities it’s jobs for the boys no danger.

Surely the football authorities have got to take some sort of action against him now.? The man
is a pariah , who somehow seems to think that he's above the law. Needs a lengthy ban or sacking
to even begin to atone for his unacceptable behaviour. As others have said, the main focus now
has to be on the welfare of Daniel. Sincerely hope, he is able to put the incident behind him and
recovers quickly from any damage that he may have suffered at the hands of this unpredictable
    psycho.

Bruising/scratches can be ABH. If there is significant damage and intent, it could even be GBH. Depends on a host of factors.

ABH or GBH he's doing time for what he's done. His past actions will also come into play. He's at risk of being banned from all football activities and attending games for 10 years, just like any thuggish fan would. Will be interesting to see who bans him 1st the law courts or the FA.

well although it has become a Police matter I do hope the FA take serious action too. Also I hope the law courts give him a custodial sentence too. Fleetwood Town would do well to immediately sack him.

First of all I wish the gaffer all the best and hope he's okay on himself nothing like an assault to shake you to the core... Secondly if Barton is found guilty he should be treated like any one else and a football stadium ban should follow... Maybe if he as to report to a police station Tuesday and Saturdays he might just listen . Hitting him in the pocket might teach him a lesson .. Media outlets should then ban him too... Throw the book at the evil little sh1 t .

    Found guilty?
    He's not even been arrested!
    Quote from SSN
"Sky Sports News understands South Yorkshire Police have spoken with Barton to assist with their enquiries, and will speak to Barton again later in the week as part of a voluntary interview."
    Voluntary interview??!!!!
No doubt SY plod from now on will asking all offenders if they wouldn't mind at some future point being interviewed on a voluntary basis?
Bank robber: "Nah sorry officer, I'm busy for a few weeks, tell you what I'll give you a call sometime eh?"

The reaction on here when the FA charge both clubs for failing to control their staff is going to be nuclear.

If someone on grove street gets lamped in front of several witnesses the attacker is locked up interviewed and bailed or remanded immediately. Cannot understand it at all. He should have been detained ar Barnsley nick and surely a copper could have checked any immediate cctv sky or club media footage as a first point of call.
