A few contenders today. I thought McGeehan deserved it for a box to box display. He's got captain potential if he carries on like that. Mowatt was his usual busy self, creative and calm on the ball. Adam Jackson deserves a shout out for a very solid display after barely getting a kick this season. He'd be a good replacement for any potential sale of Pinnock or Lindsay for me. Pinnock once again imperious. Brown and Woodrow did well and Thiam was his usual frustrating self. He did some good things and some bad things, like usual.
Mowatt for me again. McGeehan couldn’t find a red shirt in the first half, can’t fault his effort & improvement but definitely not man of the match for me
You can see that in the highlights of when their player got the red card. Woodrow goes up to Thiam and tells him.
Yeah just checked and you're not wrong mate it's continued on to there as well. Thiam knocking the ball out of Woodrows hand and him giving Thiam a shove while they're both bickering.
Jordan Williams for me. Didn't think anyone was outstanding, nobody was poor. But Williams had a superb first half, and as others have pointed out on other threads he made a wonderful last man interception. Bit sloppier in the second half but overall he gets my vote today.
I don't get why he didn't want to celebrate the goal he set up. He looked moody and his team mates saw that and went to get him more involved, but then he still acted like he had scored against one of his old clubs.
You sense Woodrow is a bit of a leader and I thought he had a good all round game yesterday. Mowatt was effective as usual without being spectacular and Pinnock continues to be our rock. Mentions to a rusty Jackson who was competent and Williams who I thought did very well. McGeehan did most things wrong, passing, shooting and petulance wise but I think the important thing from him was where on the pitch he was doing it as it was in advanced roles, driving us forward and getting us into positions we simply didn't get to last week. Thiam frustrates the hell out of me, so much power and ability to beat a man counterbalanced by sloppy mistakes and awful decision making. Therefore, Brown edges it for me - a shaky first few minutes followed by a very good rest of the game, including an assist and a goal, regular beating of his man and forays to the byline, together with a strong all round contribution. Overall team performance more important than individuals and I think DS to be credited for that - realising the need to get playing higher up the pitch, he opened things up with an attacking intent and whilst it left us in danger of conceding, the fact that we got back into the scoring groove yesterday was vital for the rest of the season imho.
