Was just about to post the same, thought I’d nip over to see the views of their fans on the current title race but their board is dominated with Moncur threads. Looks like they’re fed up with him already. Glad we got rid of the kid, can imagine he’s a right disease in the changing room. Keep up the good work down there George.
Selling him to a rival while not strengthening our own squad was still a bad move. I was a massive critic of his too.
And here... I would also like to add that all the accusation laid at Moncur, you could put at Thiam's door too.. Also Moncur is ten times the player Hedges and Green will ever be...
We shouldn't have sold him as im not totally convinced by bahre but your comparing moncur a number 10 to two wingers in hedges and green.
Has he started a game for pompey? I'm not sure what isgrove has done since scoring the winner at Wembley it should have been a catalyst for his career but he has done very little out of contract in the summer interesting to see who fancys signing him.
He still looked more convincing on the wing than Hedges and Green, and I wasn’t even bothered when Moncur went.
He has never looked convincing on the wing he had one half decent 45 on the wing. He has never been a winger he has no pace he can't beat a man and he offers no cover for the full back. I actually was sad to see moncur go but he was no winger.
Due to the contractual and personal situation, I believe the club were right to let him go. What I would say though is if he had played the same number of games as Bahre has on the No10 role he would be in double figures goal wise and would have created many more opportunities. A really gifted footballer who needs to play in a free role. Unfortunately not many teams can afford that luxury and being good without the ball carries as much importance. A shame in my view and moving to a club that played 4-4-2 didn't work out for him and has hindered his career. I acknowledge the point others make about him and it is no coincidence he struggles to hold down a regular place anywhere other than Colchester. The demands of modern football have made it difficult for him to be any other than an impact player.
I think the oh he is too gifted for the modern game is a bit far tbh. His talent doesn't outweigh his poor work ethic, hence he's been found out everywhere he's been.
Good summary and I agree about Bahre. The thing is though he could have chosen to adapt his game in order to play but he is unwilling to do so. With Luton likely going up in cant see him getting much game time next season either.
