Their youngsters have been hit massively financially with the seniors having to pay travel etc... i know they'd love an opportunity to shine but not for the club that has done this to them IMO.
I suppose retrospectively the Miner's strike was a missed opportunity to get those on the dole working down the pits, as they'd always dreamed of doing.
https://www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules--regulations/section-5--fixtures/ According to football league regulations ( law 31 on the list above) it's down to the FL board what punishment is administered . The only thing set in stone is the other team of the abandoned fixture is entitled to compensation.
Teams affected by Bolton’s record being erased are at the bottom. Rotherham Millwall and Reading. Rotherham would benefit to the tune of five points! ( they have lost and drawn with Bolton this season)
In theory the other team of the abandoned fixture could claim on behalf of their own fans . Whether they d be successful is another matter .
I don't see what the alternative is really. Other than forcing them to resign from the league. Although if the Under 18's also refuse to play, things could get very messy.
Not at all, they are telling Bolton, no excuses play your fixtures. They are actually putting more pressure on the club by doing this, by allowing them not to play the fixtures not only is that the easy option but they are also looking after other members interests too by doing this. Bolton are also still subject to disciplinary process as well.
Exactly was just typing similar, the league are actually applying more pressure on Bolton to get it resolved. I hope all playing staff stick to not playing until resolved.
It's lucky they have 2 meaningless games left, if they were playing other sides involved in a relegation scrap and turning out the youth team it would be a mockery.
Resolved? More magic non-existent millions? They’ve been pissing out more money than they should for years... teams like us, Rotherham, etc have been the fall guys. I’m guessing they’ll get a 10 point deduction next year.. hand slapped...
You ve got to feel sorry for the U18 lads should they be forced into going against the first team . It's not like any of them are old enough to make an informed decision nor is this any of their faults . The EFL should have taken action years ago over clubs overspending instead of relying on a bunch of kids to bail them .
