Hope he sticks around for a long, long time. Undefeated at home, automatic promotion, and he has got us playing exciting fast attacking football. No matter what his future holds, I'm sure Barnsley will always be special to him, and he will always be special to us. What an unbelievable season!!
He’s in garrison pub celebrating . Hope he gets all his drinks bought . What a fantastic job he’s done
I imagine around midnight Saturday evening could be fun in tarn when the travelling fans and the players arrive back for a skin full. Be a cheap night for the lads with all the free drinks they will be offered.
I genuinely believe that I was the only one who would have been quietly pleased, had we not gone up, purely because I didn't fancy another season of being Championship bottom-three dodgers. But... Stendel has changed my mindset, simply because I believe he is every bit as good as Chris Wilder in his tactics. I am CERTAINLY not saying he could take us up again. But I really do think he has the clout to make us a competitive Championship team next season. Plenty to look forward to now.
Agreed - sheff u demonstrate that you don’t need to spend millions to win it, let alone compete Team spirit and tactical noise can take you to the very top.
I've been one of the ones cautioning about being too hyperbolic about him. He had a very competitive squad to use. However, injuries, off field disruptions and the strength of challenge from three other teams have meant he's had to do a bloody good job this season. That's exactly what he has done. Cheers Daniel
You can have the best ensemble of players on the planet but unless they are organised, have a plan and most of all , well motivated....you ain't going nowhere. Our coach from day one has been exemplary....I dared to believe after the 1st match v Oxford but deep down thought we would finish mid table. His brand of football was exciting and just really good on the eye. Attitude...first class, even with losing players and staff .All the setbacks seemed to galvanize our squad more and more. Congratulations boys, I'm massively proud of the way we conducted ourselves. Best football seen for a long time.
I really can't give him enough credit. I think that I am most impressed by how well he has motivated the squad, especially after the abject failure of last season. Never have I known us to be so competitive in so many important games, the only time we didn't really put in a performance was Wycombe away. You can tell the players love playing football for him. So many times in the past there have been games where a big performance was required and we didn't deliver, Derby or Bolton or a dozen others last year, it is really incredible just how good we have been when it has all been on the line.
We were bullied at Shrewsbury but I can only remember one gaff (which he later admited) that was at Oxford. .by not playing big keefs from the start. At times. .I've thought "what the he'll!" with some of his substitutions but 99%spot on. Top, top coach.
Agree with that often we make a change and I think what on earth is he doing, then more often it works a treat. That's why he's a successful football coach and I sit in the stand and have a grumble on here.
