We have to try. I think Daniel is on another level to Hecky BTW so they will come knocking more quickly.
Completely agree. I've said on here before(might have been about Hecky actually) that my one big wish for this club was to find our Arsene Wenger. A manager/head coach who puts their roots down here and shapes the club in his image from top to bottom, over the space of a decade and more. I would love it to be Daniel, a man who has gone out of his way to immerse himself in our town and our culture, and turened a group of players many of us thought were not up to much, into the best team in the division...
I'm just enjoying things while it lasts. I bet Huddersfield fans thought that Wagner was starting a new dynasty. Managers tend to have a shelf life unless they are given free reign to do what they want. To paraphrase Jack Charlton it was three years unless you change the playing personnel. The first year they listen, the second year they listen some of the time and the third year they tend not to listen to you at all. You either change things or get the sack. Enjoy the moment. What will be, will be.
My biggest fear is that given his success in his initial season with us, a German Club offers him a contract. I don't know his domestic arrangements, but if he's married with kids, his partner and himself might want the kids to complete their education in Germany. It would be a real boost to his future commitment if his wife came to live with him over here. We did it with our eldest son when we left Donny to move here in 1987. He was at a crucial point with exams coming up and as his grandparents lived 500 yards from school, he lived with them for eight months. Of course he could bring them over as well. A lot of German kids are multi lingual.
I don’t. Hecky played a more attractive football probably because he played with out and out wingers. But he got manoeuvre out of the job at Barnsley. He never had a chance at Leeds - they will never accept a manager from Barnsley- far too beneath them. But he has proved again how good he is at Hibs. Top manager. And always will be one of our own. That’s not taking anything away from Stendel because he’s obviously a terrific manager.
Stop the bus. I want to get off. You’ve excelled yourself there. I liked Hecky, and I still think he did a decent job in difficult circumstances. But that statement is ridiculous. Did you see his side in 17/18? It was turgid and woeful. He’d have kept us up, but not with good football.
Daft comparing Stendel to anyone at the minute, judging him against other managers should come (hopefully) far in the future when he’s no longer our manager. Be interesting to see how we get on next year. If we keep the team together & add a left back, another winger & a good back up striker (maybe Miller, not seen enough) I think we’ve got a young side with momentum that’s gained experience playing together which could comfortably be mid-table in a few months time if not higher but of course that’s all dependent on outgoings
We’ve been over that a trillion times. But for old times sake - the 17/18 team was cobbled together because we had lost most of the original squad by then. The 16/17 team was ONE point off the playoffs until the rug and carpet and then the floorboards were pulled from under Hecky. We were rightly raving about Hecky up to this happening to him. Not kidding - some people can only remember as far back as their last bag of chips.
Is that an Americanism? Are you referring to crisps or fried chips that you would get from the chip shop?
Hard to know where to start with this drivel. You did nothing but criticise PH when he was boss and now you say his playing style was better than DS? Christ this is ripe even for a nut job like you.
I’ll never understand why you a) direct your ramblings towards Chien Lee, as opposed to any of the other 4 owners, one of whom is also the CEO currently. b) think any of them will see it on here.
Bit rich for someone who clearly has selective memory, like remembering only one period of Heckingbottom’s tenure - and forgetting that you yourself were very critical of him when he was here, but then saw him as some kind of messiah when he left. Your rhetoric is very boring YN. You go on and on about Heckingbottom, a manager I also rated, but one which I see as inferior to the current incumbent in as many aspects of the game as I can think of. Serious question. Would you swap Stendel to bring back Heckingbottom today, right now? There are two possible answers to that question. One of which, no, will show you to be a hypocritical WUM. On the other hand, the other answer, yes, would show you to be an absolute and complete idiot.
Jeez. Either your memory is shi.te. Or you are mixing me up with someone else. Think before you post FFS !!!
IMO they are both exceptional managers. If Stendel left the club and Hecky was brought in then I believe we would continue to progress and drive forward. I’m still a big Hecky fan. The performances of the team in the first half of the 16/17 season still remains some of the most exciting football I’ve ever seen at the WELL.
