Mike Turner emphatically denied painting The Fighting Temeraire saying it was some painter and decorator from Cudderth. Police are still investigating
My favourite painting by that useless, shot-shy streak of pee. The old warhorse of Trafalgar getting towed for breaking by the steam tug amidst a glorious sunset, is the most poignant, melancholic premonition of the modern age... Just glad Mike didn't get to witness the catastrophic ***** that would follow, 60 years later...
I heard he painted ‘Fisherman at Sea’ as an expression of joy at scoring the winning goal away at Ipswich Town.
Watched the film Mr Turner the other week. Enjoyed it and the recreation they did of Turner seeing the Temeraire being towed was superbly shot.
And.... The sun is in the wrong part of the sky together with the steam vessel’s smoke stack is not in the right place.
