It's tough to pick a team. Doncaster will struggle the most to stay up and would give us a local derby to replace Blunts and Millers. But it's Doncaster Rovers. Sunderland would have a far bigger budget than us but are close by compared to some others. It would be funny to see them do a Blunts and stay there a good six years. Portsmouth and Charlton will be long trips for the players to make.
Charlton. It would be nice to see three clubs of a reasonably similar ilk get promoted from League One rather than have to listen all fortnight to how the others are "sleeping giants".
Doncaster, because they're probably our best chance of points. Difficult to look past Charlton though, realistically.
I'd say Donny for the local derby but they don't deserve to be promoted and they only bring about 136 fans. I would also say Sunderland because they pack the away end and are relatively local compared to the other two clubs in the play offs but I'm going with Charlton based on them finishing third.
Not Donny. I know it makes a lot of sense for us (local derby, most likely to struggle and take one of the relegation spots). But they just don't deserve to be promoted. They are not in the same league as the top 5 and finished 15 points behind 3rd. Its like they are turning up to the wrong party with some tins under their arm. Not Portsmouth. For lots of reasons. Longest trip, almost certain to be one that most of us don't attend. They are also the nastiest bunch of fans from the 4 with plenty of plebs amongst their number. Happy with either Sunderland or Charlton. But I would be surprised if Sunderland can pick themselves up for it. They look a shambles at the moment and if the season were starting now I reckon they would be bottom half within 10 games.
Cant see anyone beyond Charlton making it. Fair play to Bowyer given all the off field issues and limited resources he has had to work with and selling their top scorer in January but still remaining consistent.
That's not all that relevant though. The first game we were going through a little sticky spell at the time, and the second one we were ravaged by injuries and suspensions. Overall Charlton have looked a far more impressive side than Doncaster, hence the massive difference in their points tallies.
Donny for me...close away day, closer than Oakwell for me and more competitive local banter. Might make Sunderland away, but not Charlton or Portsmouth.
