No matter what, I think he’s done a decent job.

If you look how gash Sunderland have been for the last 2-3 years, look how much rot had set in, and look how those overpaid players had done nothing for the team, you can’t deny he’s turned them around. It was a massive job.

If you watched the Sunderland Netflix documentary, you could see how the whole club was stagnant and demoralised.

    Fair play to him.

Also, he didn't finish above us, that's also a positive thing he's done.

If they don't manage to go up via the play offs, the whole club will remain stagnant and demoralised - according to my mate from South Shields.

I'm not so sure and reading the Sunderland forum I don't think they are either. Before the season started on paper they had the best squad in the league mcgeady, max power,leadbitter,honeyman,maja..... experienced players on massive wages not a squad of kids like us. In January they sold maja but he was able to bring in another experienced proven striker for 4 million. When we played them at oakwell it was a game they needed to win more then us but I thought Ross set them up not to lose and was quite negative. Glad he turned us down.

Yup. Not sure of their contractual situations with some of the higher earners, but they must be close to expiring. That’s probably the only silver lining they’ll have if they stay down.

The Netflix documentary was an eye opener to how bad they are/were. Even the youth teams were taking the piss of the pros. Coleman was unlucky to be sacked - change of owner nailed the coffin for him.

As for Jack Ross, obviously he gets rough ride on here for allegedly turning us down, but he’s done well up there considering.

I’m looking at the past 3-4 seasons of Sunderland.

What Ross has done there, regardless of budget is a good job. They had large wages in the Champ last season.....

If you’ve seen the Netflix documentary, you’ll know what I mean. More issues than just the playing staff and boardroom......

If they fail in the playoff & have anything other than a flying start next season he'll be in the Job Centre in October.

The Marras will probably sack him if they fail in the play-offs, marra.

That in itself doesn't mean he's a crap manager, because every manager gets the chop at some point or other, marra.

But the fact they had such a large budget but conspired to finsh below Luton would have me massively concerned were I a MLF, marra.

I really wanted Ross here when it looked as though he was coming. But on the evidence of his performance thus far, we've dodged a bullet, marra.

My Mackem brother in law has phoned his brother who lives in Shields and he said
everyone he talks to, has said the job is too big for Jack Ross. If they lose
the play offs, he said he wouldn't be at all surprised if Ross is sacked, because the Board will face
intense pressure and there is only usually one outcome when that happens. They've had a
veritable "flock " of Managers who have all eventually been shown the door or quit. I bet Ipswich fans
are gutted at being relegated . A percentage of them should be ashamed, because of the way they
treated Mick McCarthy. He was unquestionably hounded out, but finally resigned of his own volition.
Watched MOD Two last night. Similar situation there. Waving their banners and flying planes over
the Emirates Stadium bearing the caption "WENGER OUT". They got their wish and Unai Emery was
appointed. The players and Emery were booed off yesterday because they drew with Brighton 1-1 meaning they
missed out on automatic Championship League qualification , which in some Gooners eyes is not good enough.
What a load of hypocrites they are. They pilloried probably their best ever Manager aside from Herbert Chapman,
who led them to a Cabinet full of trophies. Wenger was gutted when he left. To ensure a place in the Euros next
season, they will now have to win the Europa Cup, which exacerbates the pressure on the Manager and his team alike. If they fail, again, Emery will come in for increased criticism, as will the Board ,which could easily lead to him resigning or alternatively being shown the door.
