Love this post. I remember Ronnie turning out for Joe Joyce’s Testamonial. He’d, how can I put this, “put on a couple of pounds”. It was noticed! And I heard one of our then players, Nicky Law, saying “who’s that fat bloke getting everyone excited.” Cheeky tw*t.

About 5 mins into the game he picked up the ball and set off on a run (those who saw him will know what I mean). To be honest I shielded my eyes because I didn’t want to see my idol fall. But there he was, beat one man, then a second. He was blowing a bit but he must have heard that lovely murmur that used to go round the crowd whenever he got the ball. He beat a third and suddenly he was into the box. Could he roll back the years and slide the ball past the keeper as he did so often in his glory years?

No....he put it past the post! No matter. For one brief moment he reminded us what we had missed. Nicky Law similed and applauded. I wasn’t sure Ronnie was actually going to make it back to the half way iine he was that knackered. Love that man and the memories he has left me.

 

I think Toney would be a fantastic signing.Just turned 23, 21 goals scored this season,60 odd career goals so far.I think he's destined for the Championship with or without us.

 

And why in God’s name would we want to weaken our team......can’t pass for toffee so wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole.
