I reckon they should both send the U18s, then get Wembey to host a "friendly" between the senior players. Impossible to do, but it'd be hilarious.

68,000 capacity as well. How does that even work?

Also, is it a midnight kick off?

Top flight football is a ******* joke. Support a proper team, like Barnsley FC.

How do you work that out? Arsenal average 60,000 per home game! Chelsea get over 40!!

I was being slightly facetious but we know these European matches arent run for the benefit of the fans.

I reckon quite a few clubs get over 40. Even at amateur level.

Not only do they only get 6,000 tickets each, there are no direct flights to the place and to get a return flight costs nearly £800. So badly organised personally I think they should boycott it.

Wasn't that the ticket allocation for Liverpool away in 2008?

I'd say given the geographical location the majority of tickets will be bought by people local(ish) to the area. I guess lots of these people will be buying to sell on for a tidy profit to arsenal and chelsea fans. How many will travel that far at inflated costs to pay a tout even more?

It’s clear the finals of the European competitions are just seen as a huge worldwide advert for the competition by UEFA and the leagues that take part, they are not interested in having the actual fans that go week in week out there.

The premier league will be overjoyed at the audience and promotion it’s getting throughout Europe and the world with all premier league teams in there. They’ll be able to increase their demands for the tv rights again...........best league in the world and all that.

I'd boycott it and tell UEFA we are playing it at Wembley.

EDIT: Just seen Skryptic also suggested this.

As well as the distance they will have to travel, the biggest disgrace is that the Airlines are hiking their
prices, that's why a lot of fans are thinking of going by car. Reading one website this afternoon and it claimed that tickets are now available on the black market and for some of the better seats, they are selling at anywhere between £3 and £5 k.

That would be a great idea. Come to an agreement that they both send their youth teams to Baku to fufil the fixture so they couldn't be punished for it.

Hire out a local ground like Wembley, Olympic Stadium or whichever is available at short notice and play a unofficial Europa League final there with the ground split 50/50 for supporters.

It is a great idea. However the ownership of the clubs involved are part of the problem and locked into the continued commercialisation so they'll never consider it. Though I guess you can never underestimate the hypocrisy of some of football's money men.

UEFA as part of their defence of this have now come out and cited the fact that the location and accessibility of Baku to foreign visitors was a determining factor for them when allocating tickets to the finalists supporters.

“the geographical location and logistical capacity of airports in and around the host city, it was deemed that around 15,000 spectators would be able to travel from abroad (this includes finalists' fans and general public), with Baku as the main hub. Offering more tickets to fans of the participating teams, without any guarantee that they would be able to arrange suitable travel to reach Baku, was therefore not a responsible option.”

You couldn’t make it up. How on earth then did Baku ‘win’ the race to host the final then I wonder, and which considerations were most important?
