Utter fraud. No idea tactically and his squad selections were like the hokey cokey - players would start one week then disappear from the squad for the next 2 matches.
Nothing you’ve said actually makes any sense. You’ve stared his record was crap, you’ve stated we were above the relegation zone before he came and ended up in it. Even if we had stayed up he was getting sacked anyway so we may have appointed DS to manage in the championship and been a year ahead of where we are now. Quite simply the worst manager I’ve seen in my time.
He wasn't the only factor in our relegation, or even the major factor, I don't blame him for our relegation, but that doesn't make him a decent manager. He walked out of his job at a Ukrainian side in November, after only taking over in August. A pattern that has repeated again and again. He's a fraud, not capable of managing people and the worst appointment we've ever made. The club knew it and sacked him within minutes of the season ending. And for balance the latest appointment in Stendel was inspired.
We were in the relegation zone when he came. We dropped into it after our draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
I think Morais' "believe" mantra was so prevalent because of the squad he inherited being totally bereft of confidence.
I cant quite agree - for sure he was useless and did nothing to save a sinking ship - his record of 13 points from 15 games is nailed on relegation form and I hope he would have been sacked even if Bolton had lost on the last day and we survived, but I still cant see beyond Spackman as the worst Manager I have seen at Barnsley, he had a special skill of making a team much much worse than it was when he took over. Second worse manager for me
The thing about Morais is, if we exaggerate about how bad he was, it means we don't have to consider how out of their depths this group of players was in the Championship.
I can't believe how in his 13 previous stints as manager, he's never actually been able to complete a full calendar year at a club! As assistant (of Mourinho) he did, but never as manager. I wonder if he'll break that streak now. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jose-morais/profil/trainer/434
The football under Spackman was sideways and backwards. I hated it. Funnily enough the 17 match winless run Hecky presided over reminded me of Spackman's tenure.
It’s a close run thing Dave that’s for sure, spaceman was arrogant and believed he was far better than he ever was, at least morais seemed genuine if out of his depth
This. Spackman is the worst thing to have ever happened to Barnsley FC. If we ever again appoint anyone remotely as incompetent as he, it might be the case that there is no club once he's been and gone.
He couldn't understand the animosity towards him and his style of football. It's just a shame we appointed Steve Parkin as his replacement.
Oh don't start that ! I'm already nervous about how we'll fare against some of the good teams in the Champ. I really don't want another season like two years ago.
I reckon that "this group of players" was affected by Hecky's loss of heart and Malaise lack of a brain...
The guy took the wheel on a ship heckingbottom had already crashed into an ice berg, didn’t get a transfer window yet gets the blame entirely for the relegation. You’ve all been gaslighted.
For what it's worth (bugger all, really!), in my opinion, John McSeveney is the worst Barnsley manager I've seen.
