He'll not get it now (Not that I want him to). This latest headline will be enough to tarnish his leadership bid.

thing is anston..if we were now to stay where would it leave the country's divisions?

to me its quite obvious the uk has been divided ever since the eu started changing from what people were initially told..

i'm also of the opinion that if the rest of europe was asked to vote in a referendum then we would see that much of it is also as divided as us..

maybe its time to revert back to 'the common market', and just trade with each other, you could still have a customs agreement and an agreement where europeans can work in each others countries..i just fail to see why we need a political union that seems to be causing so much resentment.

Did Blair ever get brought to task over WMD.Soldiers faced prosecution .
Don't like Boris and whatever the Torries stand for but can't help thinking that Blair got off Scott free for the millions killed and still dying in the middle East.
I voted on leave on a bigger picture not 370 million .
But hey what do I know .I remember as a kid all the NUM stickers we had given as kids from our fathers vote no to join the common market.
My all time MP who I had great respect for Tony Benn had huge reservations of the so called special union being set up.

Your right about Blair but his biggest supporters on this was the Tories who pushed it through to a man . If he’d relied on labour votes it would never have happened .

As we’ve discussed id be happier with something like this if we do ever leave. The major problem with this however is immigration was the key to to the vote in 2016, not as many folk knew or indeed cared about trade, immigration and controlling it was unfortunately a major deciding factor and to allow access for people to move won’t sit well with many leavers

And for 'misconduct in Public Office' (i.e. blatant porkies), should we not be going after Tory Blair for his WMD statements? It could be a never ending rap-sheet .....

Should we have our democratic right removed.. because the way I've just read that indicates to me that's what you seem to be suggesting...

all it needs is some form of controlled immigration and those leavers that voted on this issue would be more or less suited.

i think immigration and its control are going to have to be addressed sooner or later in the eu,its deffo been a factor in these current eu elections and the sooner the eu are 'SEEN' to be doing summat then i think the rise of far right politics will be slowed down,if not stopped.

So it should be, as far as I can see it sets a ridiculous precedent leaving it open to every malicious loony to wreck government at a whim. Good grief if everybody in government t is taken to ask for summat like this we would get nothing done!

    Exactly.

When I referred to the 'simple man in the street' earlier I didn't mean anything derogatory and I class myself as one of them. A sensible immigration policy - which let's face it has hardly been 'controlled' since the 50's would have satisfied a lot of people. If they had seen action in this direction, then they wouldn't now be faced with questions they could have never envisaged around such issues as 'trade deals', 'hard borders' and 'backstops' etc

The thing that gets me about Blair and wmd is that the Tories would have done the exact same. The only leader who wouldn't is Corbyn yet apparently hes a dangerous liability.

Or if they started taking them to task they might think twice in future . Just a thought but if we keep saying ah well they all lie and do nowt then we get what we deserve

Crikey, Delhi, you, me & a few others need to be careful - we’re starting to make sense! “Back to the common market, customs agreement & decent controlled immigration (from anywhere) could be the way forward - it could be accepted by a large majority of people,eg:

Those who don’t want uncontrolled immigration
Those who fear fuller political integration
Those who want to keep Ireland safe
Those who want continued tariff-free trade
Those who want national & international security

I can’t believe that this would have been so hard to achieve - but what do I know?

Much as I despise and detest Johnson the op is right. I've been watching American politics closely for three years now and we really don't want to go down the road of every policy decision ending up going through the courts. We're not that far behind the yanks in how badly our politics is broken. I'd rather not go the whole hog.
