Under private heath care my nephew or niece's male children would be uninsurable, due to a congenital heart condition.

Without the NHS, in particular Barnsley A & E and also Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital neurosurgical ward, I wouldn’t be here. I agree, needless to say.

If this happens I am a dead man. I'd never get health insurance due to pre-existing conditions. Is this really "the will of the people"? There's plenty more like me. The irony is that many of them support this charlatan.

I, for one, am utterly shocked that an abhorrent c\/nt of a man would utter cvntish statements.

I never voted for him. When he and his ilk have destroyed the country, it's not on me.

    It's fine.
New general hospitals need to be built and i'm sure they soon will be by private healthcare companies. They will be full of NHS patients however receiving their treatment free at the point of use. It's been the case in mental health hospitals over the last 30 plus years. At least half of all our NHS mental health inpatients currently reside in private mental hospitals with the taxpayer picking up the bill. Never see or hear people bleating about this for some reason however.
Am i happy with private healthcare companies making money from vulnerable people?: am i hell.
I really can't see any other way forward though. The building of the required new NHS hospitals would cost trillions and the state can't afford this (brexit being an added concern).
So the 'privatisation' i envisage is rather one where the nhs patient is treated in new private as well as nhs general hospitals.
It's not what i want, i'm a proud and long-standing NHS staff member.
Healthcare insurance on the other hand is the biggest hot political potato. Any party even offering a slight hint would be unelectable thereafter.

Farage is funded by a bloke who sells health care insurance. This is one of the reasons Farage wants Brexit.
I warned people who rely on the NHS and certainly couldn't afford private health care insurance or even get it but they could only say Brexit, Brexit, Brexit and they voted for the Brexit Party Ltd, a private company with no manifesto which is not a political party. Idiots. My wife and I are as good as dead as we both have conditions which would be excluded from health insurance. I saw £1500 quoted for a fit healthy 20 year old rising to £8500 for someone over 60. I have had Brexiteers ask if I think they are thick. How do you answer that? Yes I do.

Given that he conveniently avoided issuing a manifesto why would you expect Farage to improve things? I'd suggest that, unless you're in the prime of life and A1 healthy, the economic joke will get even more hilarious if he ever gains power.
I'd suggest you don't lose your job either.

Your right . He won't improve things , but what makes you think the others will ? Theres nothing I've seen in the last decade which inspires me to feel aligned with establishment politics . Do my civil duty and vote for more crap ? That seems what you seem to be advocating.

Use your vote to help break up the two party monopoly would be my choice. It's long past time it happened. Just not Farage.

I take the opposite view on this, mate - the state can't afford not to do this. We are already paying the price of the failed PFI policy of the late 90s and 2000s - hospitals built by the private sector costing the state umpteen times what they would have done if the state had built them.

As that's quite a definite statement - I'm guessing you have actual figures to back this up?

Actually I'm guessing you haven't and you're just repeating a trope. If we look at the US system, it costs about 5x more to use the private sector than it does to just do it. affordability isn't an argument - that's a lie.

The question is whether we believe that it's the governments job to look after the health of the nation which is expensive - or whether we leave it to the private sector - which is even more expensive.

The NHS isn't perfect - and we've lived through a massive amount of 'mission creep', but looking at the alternative - bankrupting people to pay medical bills which just creates huge amounts of waste and siphons more money from 'us' to rich corporations; then the NHS is closer to 'the answer' than any alternative.

The US healthcare system sees 650000 people go bankrupt every year paying for medical treatment. I don't think there are figures for the number of people that die each year because they cannot afford treatment.

I have heard stories, including that of a woman that was abducted, raped and left with a broken neck and both her policies refused to pay out.

There are insurance based healthcare systems that work. The American model is not one that I would wish on my worst enemy - however many of those voted for Farage are those that would need it most in the next few years, and have the least chance of paying for it.

The NHS isn’t working properly for the people who work in it - or for the people that use it.
    Britain can do better.
And that means a new approach backed up with more money.
