Ha! I get it now. If we pay a player enough to in order to prevent poaching then all will be well. Wonder if Pogba agrees with that.
What do you suggest as a solution? The club bankrupt themselves to keep a couple of players, who don't want to be here anyway? Or maybe you think the owners should pump millions of their hard earned cash into the club?
If that's what he said then fair enough, still can't criticise club though. We can't compete with other clubs for wages like that, not with parachute payments. Plus I dont want us gambling with future of club by pushing FFP to limits.
I bet Luton pay better wages than us...go for better targets than us. Oh are they a massive club we can’t compete with too?
That is an important point. And a point I’m referring to. FFP rules do not apply. A gift from the owners clears that. So a conversation must have taken place at the club whether Lindsay was worth a contract extension. A 2 year contract extension will have seen him perform in the Championship. His value will increase exponentially if he shows, and I think he can, that he can perform at Championship level. Unanswered questions (as per usual). Why didn’t he want to talk to the club (what’s been said to upset his relationship with Barnsley)? Have the club offered him a decent contract extension? Why sell him for a measly £2 million - when reports suggest he is a sought after player? Could be wrong but it all points to ......... the management team think we can do better than Liam Lindsay.
With one year left on his contract a £2m fee as opposed zero at the end of the season equates to £40k per week. On a pure financial footing paying £1m for a replacement and wages of £5k a week means the club are still £15k a week in profit with the potential for a sell on profit in the future. The one caveat, and the biggest of all, is whether the replacement can be as effective as the out going player. Given the approach adopted by the Directors to running the club this will be the same for any player who doesn't wish to sign a contract extension. Similarly, given the wage structure, the likelihood is that we wont be able to keep the better performers with the riches on offer at places like Stoke. Time for new heroes.........................
Seems the transfer policy hasn't changed that much under new ownership. The last time we got promoted from league one we didn't renew contracts of key players, which resulted in losing them for less than their market value as their contracts were running out. This time we got promoted from league one and look like losing two key members of our defence for very little and could lose another couple yet because 12 months previous new contracts weren't offered.
That is the big big disappointment. As things stand now it’s looking like history is repeating itself. When these new owners took over we all hoped that those dark days were behind us. Early days - but at the moment it’s looking like the same old story.
Was he trying to cause disruption to the club or the fans by telling you that, this is the first time I have heard of a Manager telling a supporter what's going to happen at a club he has nothing to do with?
Genuinely think you should go and support another club. You obviously can't handle supporting Barnsley. The owners are doing EXACTLY what they said they would. Sticking to the fantastic strategy that has got the club sustainable.
No billionaire’s cash is hard earned. Nobody has earned a billion pounds- they have taken it from those that earned it for them.
I hate that phrase. Once you gave a certain amount of money investments do the earning for you. I know very rich people who haven't earned a penny of it for themselves.
We have offered Davies a new deal and he is 26/27 and I think pinnock is now 26 and he has been offered a new deal....
I do believe 4 have gone already - Isgrove, Jackson, Hedges, Smith So the info from Hecky was correct - can someone now ask him how many incomings are due !
