It is a good idea for sure but some will still move on for the guarantee of an instant bigger wage and signing on fee.
That is the the obvious flaw, but maybe increase the percentage every couple of million the fee goes up and offer a slice of the future interest that we receive. Just thinking of ways for players to potentially earn very good money with us without us having to pay too much of it. And hopefully we can keep a good team together in the championship for a season or two.
Main thing is to stay up this year so we can then try to emulate the likes of Brentford. People will laugh at that as they are a 'small club' but they have come up, secured themselves in that league over the course of a few seasons and then developed steadily to now being a regular top 10 side earning good money from player sales. If we stay up this year which I still think we will despite losing Pinnock, then over the next few seasons we will be able to increase our spend and pull power in terms of wages.
Wish I shared your optimism. As someone asked elsewhere, has a club ever lost all three of their established central defenders in one close season? Not to mention the goalkeeper! Very disappointing, but at least the £5m for Lindsay and Pinnock would almost cover the loss incurred in being relegated back to League One. Every cloud...
It is disappointing for sure but it has all happened before pre season has even started. Still got time to get bodies in before start of season to get them to gel and give Stendel and the team time to work their magic.
I agree, it is a slowly slowly process and with Stendell in charge I'm sure we will stay up. Hopefully we can find ways to maximize the fees when we do sell.
Wat a piss take. 3m mill joke to a piss poor tinpot club like brentford. We never ever ******* learn.
I’m sure there will be ‘bodies’. Whether they turn out to be good enough bodies is an entirely different matter.
