Called in at Cannon Hall Farm with my wife and our little dog today. Weather fine enough to sit at the outside tables near the White Bull restaurant. Couldn't believe my eyes when Staff were bringing meals out and clearing trays from tables, wearing T- shirts bearing the logo " We are all Leeds aren't we.?" Pointed at the lads shirt who served us and said " no we're not pal Barnsley are gunna muller you." He just shrugged.
My Mrs works at the white bull, it’s in tribute of the head chef who as stage 4 terminal cancer, he’s married with 2 young kids, they are collecting for him, a couple of the chefs that work with him turned up in tee shirts with the slogan “we all hate Leeds” I’ve even had give my blessing to my Mrs wearing one due to the cause,
Got to be ******. Family true reds and sit with one. up there every Sunday n speak with all. Show me a picture.
Cheers Bossman. I'm left wondering why the lad didn't explain that to us. So sorry to hear of Tim Biltons illness. Hope he gets to make some nice memories with his lovely family.
My Mrs as just said that the staff need to explain the reason, I’m sure folk would donate if they understood what it was for.
So I get married a week on Monday and the Mrs to be as just walked out the door in a “we are all Leeds aren’t we?” Tee shirt....I know it’s for a brilliant cause but still
Our best wishes have to go to avid Reds supporter David Nicholson one of the brothers involved with Dad Roger at Cannon Hall Farm. He's hoping to do Barnsley proud next week, when for the first time, the Nicholsons will enter one of their animals in the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate. Their Highland cow Fern is one of the main attractions for visitors to the Farm. Davids Dad Roger was joined by Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright at a cattle auction in Oban bought her and brought her back to Barnsley. She is rated as one of the very best of her breed and appeared recently on the Channel 5 programme " Springtime on the Farm" Good luck David and Fern. Let's hope that they can come away with a rosette.
quick update...Staff was getting quite a bit of friendly stick from Barnsley fans last few days over the tee shirts but once they heard the reason behind it loads we’re donating except for one lovely chap who said to the Mrs “I don’t care what he’s dying from there’s no way I’m donating to a Leeds supporter” lovely man
Nice! Some people are proper stupid when it comes to football. I think his wife was a couple of years below me at school. She's from my neck of the woods anyway. It has been in the Examiner a few times. Heartbreaking stuff.
Well done to the Nicholsons. Just watched a recording of " the Yorkshire Vet" to see that David Nicholson and Fern did indeed take the first prize in their class at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Made our weekly visit to Cannon Hall today. What a fantastic facility it is. Absolutely rammed with young and old enjoying a drink on the open air decking area, or in the White Bull and Dog cafe. Great to overhear people at adjoining tables discussing and mutually praising the Reds performance on Saturday. Not a lot of negativity over losing Moore. Heard one lad say what a lot of us on the BBS have been saying, re- not proven at Championship level and hopefully we could get a replacement. Never tire of sitting on the benches at the rear of the Hall especially today, as the sun helped to highlight the beauty of the trees and the landscape towards Cawthorne. Surprised to hear a bloke from Barnsley ( accent a dead giveaway), wearing a Sheffield United T- shirt and young kids with Man Utd and Paris St Germain tops on talking about the Blades Premiership survival prospects. My disappointment was tempered when a group of young lads arrived and set up a game of 5 a side. Four of them were wearing Red CK Beckett tops and a couple had this seasons away shirt on. I think they appreciated my shout of encouragement " Yew Reds". Always great to see young kids having a kick about, especially when they support " my" team.
