You thought they were all **** and would relegate us from league one this time last year. Your words were we need to get rid of them all except moore. You must be happy with 3million for pinnock and 2 for Lindsay.
My concern is that we are shopping in the same places as we did in 2017. No need to go over what happened again.
Which different places are we shopping in? Danish League, Chelsea reserves, Derby reserves, Leeds reserves.
The players recruited in 17/18 were good enough. Hecky didn't know his arsehole from his elbow and had the serious hump. He sent our two best midfielders last season out on loan and wouldn't play our other creative midfielders Moncur and Mallan. He instead persisted with the ineffective Gardner and Williams. Presided over a 17 match winless run and fecked off to Leeds before he got the boot. The players being recruited now will be good enough and are being coached by a positive head coach in Daniel Stendel and I'm confident we'll play an attractive brand of winning football in the Championship next season.
Hecky didn't know his arsehole from his elbow and Mallan was a creative player who would have made a difference? Did you slip into a coma in January 2016 and wake up about Christmas 2017?
No but I nearly did from January 17 to January 18 with the turgid ***** I was having to endure watching under Hecky.
Me too. That's what happens when you sell your best players and either don't bother to replace them or replace them with vastly inferior quality.
No but I nearly did from January 17 to January 18 with the turgid ***** I was having to endure watching under Hecky. Those players that weren't good enough just won promotion automatically from League 1. Under the right tutelage I'm confident we'll have a good season next season. I get your disappointment with Lindsay and Pinnock leaving but they've gone now.
He didn’t. Gardner barely played under Heckingbottom due to injury. He only played once at Preston before Christmas time & Hecky was gone a month later. I don’t understand why so many talk about Gardner & Williams as they barely played together & its pretty obvious that Williams was injured during that spell as well as he got sent back to Everton for an operation due to an ongoing back problem. Moncur started nearly every week. I’d also say that any criticism for loaning out Mowatt & McGeehan is wrong unless you were saying it at the time as Mowatt had been terrible for us (& wasn’t much better for Oxford) & McGeehan looked by far the worst midfielder at the club in the few appearances he made for us that season (& couldn’t get a game at Scunthorpe). I can’t remember many criticising them decisions at the time. They were good enough but like most young players take time to settle in & get used to playing at a higher level especially when loads sign at once.
This is correct he also played players out of position, persisted with the same negative 451and loaned or didn't play our better players. But to many he can do no wrong.
I don't like getting into this one but it really grates me mowatt hardly played a run of games for us he then got played on the wing away at Bristol on the opening game a position he is far too slow for and loaned out. Pinnock was behind lindsay,Jackson,Pearson and McDonald and was our 5th choice center back. Moncur started abit as we kept persisting in 451, he got played on the wing quite a few times anyone who has ever watched moncur play knows he is no winger.
That’s not true about Pinnock. He started the season behind Lindsay as the left sided centre back but got a game when Angus was banned / personal issues & Jackson was injured. He then kept his place until he got injured & then Pearson got a couple of games whilst Pinnock & Jackson were injured & Angus was out due to the issues behind the scenes. Pinnock was never dropped by Heckinbottom. Both times he got into the team he stayed in until he got injured. For me all of Moncur’s best games for us came on the wing. The best 2 performances I saw from him were on the right in a midfield 4 against Fulham in the championship & then on the left against Luton at Oakwell last season. He started plenty though. We pretty much had to play 4-5-1 as we’d only got Bradshaw & Ugbo as strikers & Thiam who’s more of a winger. The strange thing about Mowatt leaving on loan was that it probably only happened to balance the books a bit as we signed McBurnie on the same deadline day as he left. If we knew that the McBurnie deal wouldn’t end up happening & we’d have to play 4-5-1 I doubt Mowatt would’ve been allowed to leave. Don’t know if it would’ve changed much as he was pretty useless for Oxford that season
What your saying about pinnock just isn't true mate he made his debut for us v morcombe in the cup even when Lindsay was out v sheff he chose Jackson and McDonald, pinnock only got a chance when McDonald was sent off he then started another game after and was then dropped untill December when I think he was convincing hecky with a few standout displays, reading and Preston at home and Sunderland away https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=94145&season_id=150 I got the impression hecky wanted to play 451 as soon as Conor left he had watkins,Armstrong and Bradshaw but mostly opted for Bradshaw as a lone striker. And don't even get me started on when he played thiam as a lone striker away at Hillsborough mind boggling stuff. I'm not sure about mowatt leaving to fee wages he was our most experienced player what most on here were crying out for a run in his favoured position and give him a chance instead of him been shipped down south.
From getting his chance in the league he stayed in until he got injured both times. That’s just hard luck. He was never dropped until December, he was injured. There was even a couple of games where Lindsay & Pearson started as centre backs & we didn’t name a centre back on the bench as Pinnock & Jackson we’re injured & Angus was out with his issues. The second half of that season he tried lots of systems & players with an eye towards the following season. Mowatt played out wide & centrally & with freedom as a number 10 & looked pretty poor regardless of where he played. I just don’t think it’s a coincidence that Mowatt who’d not been linked with a move away all summer suddenly left on deadline day as McBurnie ‘arrived’. I doubt the club would’ve allowed a midfielder to leave on loan if they knew McBurnie would go back a few days later & we’d pretty much have to play 5 in midfield to compensate. Just had a read on the thread about him leaving & no one said it was a bad decision. You said you wouldn’t give up on him at 22, me & a couple others said we hoped getting some games on loan would improve him but the majority had already given up on him, some comparing him to Dale Jennings. Then there’s loads of comments on threads about his loan spell at Oxford saying to get shut as he was performing badly for Oxford & many of their fans wanted to send him back to us. Thank god he’s turned it round.
You're mixing you're seasons up. Pinnock wasn't signed until summer 2017. Mowatt played out wide during the first game of the 2017/18 season and was farmed out on loan. He never played for us centrally that season as he was on loan with Oxford.
