That was the point of my post. They would have evidence, but to put it forward to next May which I surmise will be after the season has finished seems odd.You would have thought if he is guilty sentence him.
My guess is he was there part of a group and had been charged as a result but his part was minor compared to others. If that’s right would imagine they prioritise cases and perhaps the actual stabbing part takes precedent first(no idea if done already). Could be way off with that but only thing that makes sense
Could be for a whole variety of reasons. @BarTyke would be able to explain reasons for a delay better than I could
He could be in big trouble even if he was just associated with the person doing the stabbing - 2 words - joint enterprise.
Wasn’t trying to make light of any crime committed, was just saying if he was there and baying amongst a crowd, you’d expect the instigator, worst physical offenders and person with knife to take priority.
I know, I'm just saying that even if he wasn't directly involved it could still be bad for him if he's associated with the person with the knife.
Bit of an odd one all round, quite aside from this hanging over his head. It's well-publicised that we place high importance on the attitude and general character of players that we sign, and I don't think I've found anybody with a good word to say about this guy. On the other hand, that's all forums and social media really, so for all we know he could be the hardest andmost dedicated worker in Yorkshire, and a lovely guy to boot.
It's a strange one the allegd incident happened at the West Indian carnival in Leeds in 2017 when he goes on trial it will be 2020 almost 3 years after it happened if they were going to send him jail wouldn't they have remanded him earlier?
Stop pissing about get him signed and tell him he can stay at club but if he's sent down he's not paid for the duration until released and in a suitable fitness for work.
His brother was murdered I think 2017. Sounds like he was in with a bad lot? Not sure if Mailk's alleged sins were before or after this case. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/new...united-star-handed-99-years-in-jail-1-8849747
Hull Daily Mail claiming that we've possibly trumped the Tigers by offering Wilks better personal terms and in another article I've seen as MappRed has already said, an announcement could well be imminent. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/hull-city-agree-12m-deal-3060677
No mention of transfer on either Leeds official site or any forum sites. They'll go mental if it happens to be little old Barnsley he comes to. Hill City won't be happy either but who gives a toss.
It's starting. Not seen confirmation personally but the mushroom's gone up in Leeds. My phone's ringing with Weeds fans slagging poor old Barnsley off. Not one but both now with us they're saying. Let's wait and see but it's fxxking great if true.
Apologies Titus, bit slow on the uptake, had a ridiculous week in court. If it’s listed for trial means he’s been charged with something. Does anybody know what the offence/offences are? It’s unusual for a trial to go off for that length of time unless others are being charged and/or the number of defendants means the estimated trial length is a number of weeks - these are harder to fix in the court calendar. Without knowing anything about any offences alleged/charged, a common scenario in mob handed jobs is for some to be on more serious charges of murder/gbh with intent/ gbh and other co-accused indicted for public disorder matters, affray/violent disorder, depending on numbers. The law on joint enterprise has softened somewhat post R v Jogee and it must not be assumed that all those present when a knife/weapon is used to kill or inflict GBH will necessarily be guilty of those offences as opposed to lesser public disorder offences or, in the event of death, manslaughter. For what it’s worth, I rate Wilks and would give him a go. He’s on bail until the end of the season in any event if the trial date’s right... When I just started I was a junior in the Bowyer, Woodgate, Duberry job - coincided with Bowyer’s best performances for Leeds...
