Let's face it, Man City could put a reserves side in the prem and stay up so I don't buy that. If we get a young player from one of the top teams they have little opportunity until theyve spent a year or two on loan. Likes of Harry Kane etc are quality players and have spent time on loan at lower league clubs. Not saying I particularly want us getting loans in, but to suggest they're not that good is wide of the mark.
absolutely. I think Donkeydoo has missed the concept of development, and has not notice the fact that Barnsley the majority of league clubs take this action.
well in case you are serious there are often 2 very good reasons 1. Up and coming youngster but not ready for premiership yet - for example we have had in recent years Harvey Barnes, Jack Butland and Kieren Trippier 2. Coming back from injury and want someone else to get them fit - Matty James Problem is they are a short term fix for the club - if they are any good they either go back or get sold on - eg Fletcher Brownhill or Drinkwater if they arent whats the point us having them
I would like to think we have gone past this point for squad building , as in bringing in players. I am more than happy for us to send our up and coming players out for experience. Oh dear am I sounding like one of the "Massives"...... sorry.
I think the actual problem is, if they are any good the parent club will want them back or someone else will be in to buy them.
You can’t use the loan system to cover injuries as there isn’t an emergency loan system anymore. Loan signings are exclusively for half or full seasons and can only be done in the same window as permanent transfers. So the only injuries you could cover are long term ones with a full or half season loan.
Experienced holding midfielder or CB / left back I would agree with. Six month loan(s). Hopefully we can cover those positions better then. We have players that should be able to be challenging the loanee(s) for a place by then. Just think it's a lot to ask a totally new defence to play games vs Fulham & Wednesday away.
I, for one, am glad that we’re bucking the trend & not getting loans like other clubs - whateohappens, let’s just develop our own players, not other clubs’.
