It would be a statistical anomaly that would baffle the best minds in the universe. Or to put it another way, there's absolutely loads.
That’s what I think too. Not that they wouldn’t get stick from the fans too but I imagine it’s that female players don’t really care about sharing a dressing room with lesbian players but some macho male players wouldn’t be so accepting.
I think that there might not be that many. Whilst people don't discriminate openly they still discriminate. What if a manager catches wind of certain mannerisms at a young age and doesn't offer them terms?
are you suggesting some mannerisms a youngster may have are an indication of his sexuality? What are these mannerisms the manager may catch wind of?
but what about the gay player(s) in the changing room, he (they) may not be accepting of the 'macho players.'
He wouldn’t be in there if that was the case. Therefore, if he is then it’s not a problem is it? And if he’s not in there then it doesn’t matter anyway as he’s not there.
You're being a tad disrespectful to any gay players who my read this. In a footballing aren't their perceptions/feelings as valid as those of anyone else?
If that is the case then i would be extremely disappointed in the players. I still think the biggest backlash will be from fans, you only have to look at the chants towards Brighton supporters from so called football fans.
OMG! The possibility that there is not one gay footballer is absolutely incredible. Of course there are and have been in the past but the level of homophobia surrounding the sport makes it almost impossible for them to come out. Rugby Union (that sport for big strapping fellows) seems to have coped pretty well with the idea - Gareth Thomas paved the way. It's no big deal. In any case - it''s a label. There are a lot of married men (to women that is) who have sex with other men. Many men like oral and anal sex - women are not that keen. Gay guys are happy to provide the service. What do you think happens in boarding schools and prisons?
Whilst I agree to some extent, I have shared 12 man tents and 2 man rooms with openly gay soldiers, sailors and airforce personnel, I could not give a flying **** about it and I would be extremely disappointed if any footballer took the approach that they would not want to share a changing room. Very narrow minded if they do.
There's literally hundreds. UK statistics say 2 per cent of people identify as being gay. That's 2 per cent of office workers, 2 percent of lorry drivers and 2 per cent of professional footballers. Divide the number of professional footballers in this country by 100,then multiply by 2 and that's how many gay players there are. That's not tried it BTW, that percentage is way way higher.
