Given Barnsley Councils current track record they’ll not have noticed yet.

    I’ll tell yer something.
If it kicks off just the ONCE - then expect a reduction in Barnsley supporters at the following game.
This incredible news is very very likely to discourage some people from attending games.
If I was involved at the club - I’d be knocking on a few doors at Barnsley Council.

    a) It's too late for the club to do anything now
    b) It's will only affect people after the game unless you cut it fine pre-match
    c) This was announced last season and I don't remember anyone kicking off about it then.

Edit : I thought it said half hour before kick off (Which I thought was odd, it's actually an hour)

To be fair they said there would be a temporary walk way over the crossing , they didn’t say it wouldn’t be fit for purpose and closed on match days

I'm sorry all but you are all blaming the wrong people, Barnsley MBC are not at fault for the jumble lane crossing they don't own it the railway companies do. They wanted the crossing closed to all vehicles and pedestrians. They also are paying for the bridge that is about to be built, They don't care about the problems it will cause until the bridge is built..

How are the police going to determine who’s catching a train and who is going to the match at the interchange ???
The interchange is a public right of way - and cannot be blocked.

At first I thought they may ask to see tickets but what if you are going for to get tickets from the station? Same with Alhambra unless they shut the doors leading to the underpass I don't see how they can stop people going through there.

I often use the underpass to get from Doncaster Road to the centre of town and don't necessarily buy anything in there. On what criteria are they going to refuse entry - using it as a shortcut or wearing colours? If it's the latter they need to get rid of the stall selling BFC merch.

I’m hoping as a loner lass I might be able to wander into the Alhambra or over the interchange. I don’t understand the alternative route atm but I know it’ll be a pain if I want to get the train back home to Leeds or the bus down Pontefract Lane to my parents’.

People getting off the train won't be directed down Eldon Street. They're already on the bridge, they have access needs, they can go either way.

Who we're playing is irrelevent. If you need to catch the bus home or travel northbound by train you have to walk the long way round. Isn't people missing buses and trains straight after the match going to increase numbers congregating people in the interchange and the likelihood of trouble?

I’m more concerned with how our roads are going to cope with the amount of Leeds fans

By dispersing the number of flash points around the town the number of police officers will need to be at least doubled.
If fans clash and someone gets injured then the blame for this can be laid at the door of Barnsley Council Planning Department for allowing this ugly and inadequate railway bridge to be built.

Has the fans group expressed their concerns to the council or whoever else might listen about this plan in terms of potential safety issues? If not are there any plans to do so? Probably won't achieve anything but it's better than doing nothing.

Yes but after the match if I want to get the train back from platform 1 or a bus do I have to walk right round or can I use the interchange bridge? It isn't exactly clear.

They can’t stop anybody using the interchange or the Alambra as these are rights of way

Rights of way can have temporary restrictions with the consent of the council.

Reasons such as "work taking place near the route or potential danger to the public".
