Got while 5pm today to prove they have the funds to start the season or 1st games will be suspended. Wycombe already taken option not to sell anymore away tickets to Bolton fans
Games are “postponed” not cancelled. EFL has a lot of face-saving to do over these two clubs - they’ll give them every (unwarranted) opportunity to play the season. They’ve already extended the deadline from noon.
EFL are soft as ****. Days to go until a nine month season starts and they still don't have the guts to chuck both clubs out.
If these games are postponed then it immediately disadvantages Wycombe and MK Dons who will have a fixture to catch up through no fault of their own
I'd kick them both out of the league if they can't make the first game. Have a 22 team league with 2 going down for this season only, you can't have teams missing fixtures it sets a terrible precedent. Tbh Bolton should have been booted out of the EFL last summer after they failed to play against Brentford and Bury should never have been allowed to gain promotion in their situation.
Unfair for teams to get a 3-0 win without playing them, when they might fufil other fixtures and teams who genuinely beat them don't get such a good goal difference from it. It's best to get shut of both clubs before the season starts.
Don't know if it's still the case, but I thought that if a Club failed to play a scheduled League fixture, their opponents were automatically awarded a 1-0 win and the three points.
Utter joke that bolton keep getting allowed to 'carry on'. In any other form of business they would be done by now. Football authorities are poweless at end of day and this mess proves it......
Let me guess.....10 mins to go ......they have another extension and reprieve. When u decide to let them play btw, please dont forget they didnt complete their last 2 games....so at 3 points each, thats another 6 point deduction. Stop messing about you imbeciles !
Deadline is now. Wait for them to write a statement. As said above, reckon it will be another 24hr extension.
Apparently, the Bolton players/ex players have been told the take over is done, but not formally announced and they will be paid shortly(I've heard this from the horses mouth). However, there are reports out there that while the remaining players will be paid in full, the players that have left will only get 30% now, and will be paid the balance of their wages over the next(I think) 3 years. So there are different, contradicting info being floated about...
I desperately want Bolton Wanderers to go under, couldn't care less about their fans who have lapped it up for years and took the piss out of us the other year when they undeservedly stayed up at our expense. This goes back to the Sam Allardyce days when they were paying huge wages to the likes of Jay Jay Okocha, Ivan Campo and Nicolas Anelka just to name a few. I've been following Marc Iles on twitter (football correspondent for the Bolton news) and some of the responses from their fans is outrageous. They blame the EFL for a lot of it, reckon they've been hard done to and should have had no points deduction and also one of their fans had the cheek to say something along the lines of "it will take a club to go under for the footballing authorities to do something about clubs spending way beyond their means". Well hopefully that's Bolting Wanderers come the end of this week.
