Re-visit all you want, but Moore is a much better player than when he first arrived, yes I have taken into account he played in a league lower last season. There have also been comments about his pace, I haven’t seen a lack of that either.
I think it is about having a balanced view on it, not that it is immediately necessarily good or bad. Let's see what happens in the coming week and then make a judgment. Woodrow turned out fine like I highlighted previously. If they don't replace or replace with a crap player then i'd be critical about it too.
Now at 5/2 for relegation, don’t often bet on us but after the summer sale I think that looks a decent emotional hedge.
If we're going down its due to the amount of goals our defence might leak. I'd say the attacking side to our game is ready for the championship with or without Moore. In fact if we sell Moore and reinvest in another striker more fitting to Stendels tactics then we'll be better off.
Very good money for striker only proven in League 1. Hope we have a decent replacement lined up though. That said the club has done a great job in bringing in good buys so I hope they do it again.
As some o I think it's a woman thing but aren't vertical stripes supposed to make you look taller? He'll look about 8 foot tall then.
It is about forming a view after a certain period of time and I will. Personally, the 2 players I so wanted us to keep more than any other were Pinnock and Moore, One’s gone and the other is looking imminent. At the moment I feel really disappointed with the club over this even though I’m we’ll aware of the’ Plan’ However, I don’t see the point in painting doom and gloom over this, lets see what the first part of the season brings.
For clarity, I like him and rate him, he's a proper handful and is far more than just a bludgeon. Moreover he's very different than any other forward on our books, therefore at the very least he gives us a plan b or plan c etc.
Exactly, people obviously have a right to be concerned but until we know the full picture i'm not going to make any kneejerk judgements.
Imo good business getting 4million hardly played since injury at Gillingham again imo not championship striker as misses too chanced can get away with it in league one not in this league
If true, good deal for club Great player for us last season but don’t think he fits in with style of play. Our attackers and are fast and mobile and like to get in behind. This is modern way of playing. We don’t have any wingers who play on outside and wip crosses into box for the old fashioned centre forward Would have been a great option as a plan b or to come off bench but you don’t turn down £4million quid for a backup option His value at the moment his high after coming on the back of a good season. That value will only go down if he struggles at this level which is history suggests he might As for timing - he wouldn’t have started tomorrow so makes no difference for me and we have a week to bring in a replacement Wish him well. Hopefully he fits in with Wigan’s style of play and does well If it’s true we’ve got 4million quid and that’s reinvested we could smash our transfer record on a replacement and still have money left over for a new left back and midfielder
I must admit that I think he’ll be a loss to us short term, offers us something different and on his day is very dangerous. The timing of the deal is ridiculous and only days after comments from the club saying he’s going nowhere. Would love to know if he’s pushed for the move or if the club have just accepted the offer based on the fee. In the long term I don’t think he’s good enough to take us to the next level and the money we receive for him could just do that. Scored goals last year yes but he missed a bucket load of chances. Woodrow much better finisher and I think the players suit a 4-3-3 rather than Moore and Woodrow up top. Poor timing but if the money is reinvested in the right way then I’m more than happy.
I've heard less than 3 million kieffer is off for and that was from the poster who told me wigan 2 week back if it is 3 million or less with 2 years left on his current deal we are a joke. Hopefully we have a replacement lined up ready to come in.
I’m reading this thread & I don’t really understand which player many people are posting about. People are talking about Stendel wanting a different style of play that doesn’t suit Moore but that makes no sense. Just because he’s tall many of you are assuming all we do is hoof it to him when we do very little of that. He’s quick, he works the channels, I mean just watch his goals, loads of his goals come from quick counter attacks & him running off the last man & cutting in from the wing. He’s perfectly suited to our system but also has the added bonus of been a target man for us if the pressing isn’t working. Anyone trying to pretend that this is good business is kidding themselves. We deserve to be relegated if we’re stupid enough to sell him to a relegation rival. As for people saying he might want to go, so what? All of our players want to leave they’re just hoping to put the run of form together that gets them a big contract somewhere. He’s got two years left on his deal. Tell him & his agent that he can go next summer if he won’t sign a new deal but until then he needs to perform for us so he can get an even bigger contract & we can do better out of the deal.
All true but in my humble opinion this will mean we need to get two strikers in not one. The failure to so so last season very nearly cost us 2nd and I think cost us the title. Now it all worked out but I hope we have learned.
