Great business. A 27 year old who we paid less than a million for with no Championship pedigree. Who wants to leave by the looks of it and to Wigan. Crikey. Great business. But the club need to get another forward in before next weekend and ideally a left back please. Not having this doom and gloom outlook on this forum. I've seen great players come and go in my 40 years and nothing ever changes so why the hullabaloo when it continues?
I think we'll find that we're in a better position squad wise this time next week than we were this morning. Can see a few signings in the next 7 days. Yes, the timing isn't ideal but that's the window for you.
We will no doubt break the transfer record of the club in replacing Kieffer. I can't believe we're getting close to what we got for Ashley Ward for Kieffer Moore. Look I liked Kieffer. But he's lower league all over. £4m? Great business.
The timing is irrelevant because he wouldn't have been playing anyway. He hasn't started this summer. Got about 5 minutes against United. The clues are all there. I agree with you that there should be some deals done next week and hopefully I like you are happy with our business.
We aren’t though. Factor in inflation and we probably got around 7-8 million in today’s money for Ash. The fee is ok. Given today’s crazy market it is no better or worse than that. 8 million quid gets you Ryan Kent.
We are getting four times what we paid. He's done a job. He's 27 and no record at the level. And clearly wants out. To Wigan. Sorry but I can't see the downside. Feel free to bump this when he scores 25 and Wigan are top six.
Feel free to bump if we get relegated as we don’t score enough goals to stay up. If we have a suitable replacement lined up though the timing is awful I don’t have a problem. A suitable replacement won’t be cheap. It would, for example, cost more to buy Toney than we have just received. Ultimately selling half your team might make you money just like last time we did it we will proabably go down as a result.
And if we go down the world still turns. The club must live within its means. Or do you believe differently?
I hope that Moores replacement is a top striker from Europe that might well have been flagged up by Daniel Stendel. I honestly believe that when we were relegated, it came as a massive shock as far as our Board were concerned and they will not be in any hurry to repeat that experience again this season. If as stated in their original mission statement, their ultimate aim is the Premiership, they've surely got to improve the quality of the squad, season upon season. I liked big Kieffer and thank him for his efforts in our famous Red shirt, but having said that, I don't think he would necessarily have been one of the first names on Daniels team sheet. Anyway it's no good wondering what he might have done had he stayed. He's gone and we've just got to get on with it.
1. We didn’t get £4m for Hourihane 2. Hourihane had 6 months left on his contract 3. Hourihane was going to a much bigger club 4. Hourihane had aspirations of playing in the premier league
