Where have I called you a liar? Just because your opinion differs to mine doesn't make you right I'm afraid.

I know people who did lose their jobs when Labour closed the pits. Mate working in the admin blocks for a starter!

Nothing to do with opinion I was quoting facts .
Every person connected to the industry was given a job within the industry if they wanted it .
It may not have been the same job or even area but it was offered .
The fact you know people that left the industry doesn’t t mean they were forced out with no job offer.
Which is miles away from your initial post that they were forced to leave just as the Tories cut jobs .
You can have as many opinions as you want but the that doesn’t make you right and if I’m quoting facts it does make me right so your WRONG again .

I know for FACT that the person I know was not offered another role. So you are WRONG again.
End of story. Stick to joke telling.

Just out of interest which pit did your friend work at that was not offered another job when Labour was in power that shut, I take it, it was when Harold Wilson or James Callaghan was the prim minister. Did you ever work for the N.C.B., MDG

    Rubbish pal,

there wernt even any compulsory redundancies during the closure programme from the tories

if your mate didnt transfer or take up alternative work during the labour closures he did so of his own doing

He worked at Langwith down in Derbyshire before moving up to Barnsley.. Said it ripped the area apart when it closed, union couldn't even get enough to support action.
As for me no, not worked for the NCB thankfully.. my dad and all previous generations did though from what I managed to research on the family history.

Stick to your own incorrect facts. He worked in some administrative function not a miner, but there was not a ready made position at another mine, presumably because they already had people doing that.

The only reason Farage and johnson and Patel and all those other right wing idiots want brexit is to make money and destroy workers rights. The Singapore on Thames model. Unions no longer have any power or opportunity to defend those rights. It’s. Who do naive to realise that’s what they want and that’s how it will be.

There are many like yourself and I believe that is the reason why steptoe will never grace no 10, if labour had a leader who wasn't hated by so many ( historica labour voters)l think they would IMO batter the tories at the polls

That is a very specious argument.[/QUOTE]
There are members of my family who voted leave. I know they are not far right - but all those that are far right voted leave for certain. I reckon the difference in the vote is down mainly to that number.

Just look at the people who are championing Brexit - Nigel Fascist Farridge, Katie Hopkins, even Donald Trump. These people are all right wing fanatics and they see Brexit as an opportunity to reign in workers rights. Surely you realise that, or are Brexiteers as daft as some people think.

no not at all and seeing as i'm one of you, (cortonwood, barnburgh, maltby, frickley, silverwood, armthorpe, kellingley, stillingfleet and finally hayroyds) i'm pretty well qualified to tell what went off in the pit closures
frickley closed roughly at the same time as bentley (during the 1993 closures) and some of us transferred because we refused to take redundancy as there was nothing to say it was compulsory, the same happened at all the 31 pits, admittedly very few asked for or even wanted to stay in the industry..I went to silverwood and the others went to wistow,
ken davies the manager at frickley tried to send me to point of ayr or daw mill in an effort to make me accept redundo but my mate told me to go to silverwood as they were offering one on one transfers... when i went to silverwood there were 6 lads from bentley, one of these was gilbert wilson ,bentleys manager.
bentley like frickley was initially given a reprieve whilst the coal board supposedly found us markets for our coal, everybody knew it was ****** because all the pits that were given reprieves were letting men finish as and when they wanted and it was during this fiasco that i was asked to go deputying because they'd let that many finish they were now running short with officials, i went to bentley to do my weeks practical and i did it on T05's in the parkgate, was there the week they had an ignition on the face

even during the 1993 closures there were lads transferring, like i say there were some from bentley in these as well, every pit voted to accept the closures mainly because there was enhanced reduno on offer and also because the coal board told us that this was the final chance. to get that kind of money
