Is gauging his ability on one random fan from twitter more accurate? I'll trust the recruitment team.
The thing to note, the less someone has played, the less minutes they have, the less data we have to analyse. If you're 19, you're just not going to have a lot of competitive game time, so there is higher risk of anomaly. Of course, with less data, there is more risk, and others may be put off by that, so in cases of a brilliant player you may get in earlier by being brave. But the flip side. if we make a balls up and sign someone we shouldn't on a 5 year deal with decent wages and it doesn't work out, that's pretty expensive to get rid of. I'd expect that to happen at some point, especially as we've bulked the squad out and only so many people can make a matchday squad. My concern is the coach isn't openly asking for more raw youth. he's asking for experience, ideally of the championship. So far all his calls have fallen on deaf ears with just 2 days of the window left.
This board is weird. Just laughable at times. If we're in for him, we'll have extensively watched him both in the flesh and statistically. We'll have done our research - we won't be going in blind. This applies to all our summer signings - specifically those who have just played Fulham off the park for the majority of Saturday afternoon. But Gavin from Kendray has never heard of him, and Lee from Monk Bretton reckons the standard of the Polish League is garbage. I just don't know who to trust now.
Reports suggest we've made an increased offer for him. There's only three days left before the window shuts , so we're leaving it late. You would have hoped that we could have had this kid lined up, before we even thought of letting Moore leave.
To be fair moat of our signings have come out of nowhere this window haven't they - apart from Wilks and Chaplin (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not being funny). Suddenly on Twitter the pen emoji pops up and it's suddenly some bloke out of the middle of nowhere! I'm confident we'll have a target man in before the weekend.
Have to agree with that. I was expecting a signing unveiled within moments of the announcement of Moore departing.
Didn't they have the signings of Andersen, Sibbick and Diaby hot on the heels of the Pinnock and Lindsay sales? Seems common sense not to allow a sale to proceed until you have a signing in place. If a signing is in place, it doesn't seem to be this guy with the offer only just leaking out.
I’m fairness it does, doesn’t it Don’t let players go until the replacement is agreed. Makes sense and happens all the time A bit like not selling your house til you’ve exchanged on your next move!
And this guy appears to be hot on the heels of Moore sale. It only went through yesterday. The club will have been speaking with Legia for a long time, regardless of when it leaked. There are a lot of "soft approaches" in football. They make contact, see if he's available, price range, etc etc etc. We'll have known the asking price and likelihood of getting him for months. It's only when the Moore deal is certain can you make the next steps.
See above response. It's reasonable to expect a replacement. It's unreasonable to expect it within 24 hours. These are complex deals.
I think in principal we should be aiming for this, but I'd rather get the best fee for a player and take time vs panic buying someone for sake of it. I'm sure they'll get it done before the deadline
Don't think anyone said he's ****, just that he's not championship quality. Which he's not in fairness.
I think this is going to happen. Personally I think it's an unbelievable signing. Juventus dont take a player on loan for nothing, regardless if it was for their B side or not.
Indeed. And as such its absolute common sense to agree a deal in principle, subject to the agreement of the player you want to bring in. It can of course still go sideways, but its commonly reported fees and deals agreed pending a replacement being brought in. And that makes sense for many different reasons.
