To the people who defend the song and your right to sing it, can you explain to me why you would insist on singing it if the club has explicitly asked you not to? It's been around for a couple of weeks, it's not part of our identity as a club, you're not been asked to not sing about Bambo Diaby, you're not being told you can't enjoy yourself. Is glorifying the size of Bambo Diaby's dick very important to you? If so why?
FFS it's a stereotype based on race. Do we really need to go any further? Aren't we better than this?
I don't think we are. As various threads over the Summer have proven - even a member of Site Admin tried to justify a post wanting Thiam and Cavare driven to Dover. It's sickening, and I wish it would stop. But with racists like Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farage so popular in the area, there is no chance of it happening. It'll only get worse.
His name is Bambo, he plays at number 5 which is what people were wanting, there’s a song called Mambo No5, can’t we sing something to that tune that doesn’t reference the size of his penis?
If that’s all it is - innuendo. Then that’s just another example of this country sliding down into hyper sensitivity. It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so foooking what." Stephen Fry.
I mean realistically it’s one word in the song that’s the problem so wouldn’t it just be easier to take the word out and replace it with “Cos HE’S f***ing massive” that isn’t racist and it’s also true, his arms are the size of a person and it’s abit less weird than singing about a mans nob, doesn’t change the tune of the song or make the words more complicated it just gets rid of the problem
Don't either of you understand what making an example of someone means. Pull a couple of them out and charge them. It will be a deterrent to others.
So that's the Guardian, the BBC and the Sun, all quoting 'Kick it Out'. All lying? And the members here who heard it? Jeez. you might need to accept your world view is completely wrong.
As I've said before, my brother in law is Black. On numerous away days over the last few years we have both sat with Barnsley fans who have racially abused opposition players, officials and even our own players. This offended him. It also offended me. I presume it is me who is in the wrong?
Just depends if it’s you or not. I’ve had a shed load more abuse from people on here than the words in that song. Watter off a ducks back. I’m with Fry on this. Not bothered either way.
