Emotional response. See your point but what if it's because of SYP . Not only that, would miss out on circa £100,000 less costs.
I was talking to a policeman the other day regarding an incident that happened to me. We got talking about low police numbers and then mentioned policing at football matches. He said this - Barnsley is easy enough to police because there is only one flash point between the flyover and Jumble Lane crossing. The worst is the away end at Hillsborough because there are so many potential flash points in that area. So whats going to be the police advice to Barnsley Football Club now that Jumble Lane is shut and supporters are scattered around the town ??? If fans clash somewhere in town this season because the police can’t cover all bases and someone gets hurt - then a major part of the blame for this can be laid at the door of the inept Barnsley Council for allowing such an inadequate bridge to be constructed over the crossing. It’s foooking ridiculous what’s happened here.
Not sure they have an option. public safety takes priority. But I agree. If they (SYP) can find enough resources for covering BNP type rallies. Then would have thought this would be a doddle. Bear in mind, this is only what I think. Could be totally barking up the wrong tree. But as said before, I cannot see a decision being held up by the football clubs. What would be the benefit of that. Not only that, police cannot charge football clubs for policing outside the premises of the stadium. Eg public land .
If this is the case then why do we kick off at 12 in all derby and if Wednesday is so hard to police then the police are to blame for leaving this a 3pm kick off.
Bloody hell nudge . So you think Barnsley council/ratepayers should have funded a very expensive temporary footbridge in anticipation of championship football to cope for match days. Glad your not spending my money. If they're that inept. Put up as a councillor. Ye solver of all things.
You would think - that the council would have considered football supporters footfall before they sanctioned such an ugly inappropriate structure. According to the policeman I was talking to - the new bridge is going to take up to two seasons to build. Unbelievable - but then again it is Barnsley Council.
You've not noticed the rest of the regeneration of the town then. It's a long project. Footfall is not based on overload, possibly 50 matches for 3 hrs a game. Total 150 hrs, over 2 yrs if you add it up. You surely cannot condone the building of a TEMPORARY structure to cater for those demands given the cost. Ugly structure built to serve a purpose.
Fans have previously clashed in Tarn and it’s had nothing to do with the rail crossing. For most of the time that temp footbridge is and will be adequate until the new permanent one is built. Why not put the blame on any trouble caused on those that cause it?
Moan ,moan ,moan Barnsley's a **** hole it needs doing up & some money spending on it. BMBC Start work on town centre improvements. Moan, moan ,moan, it's like a building site, moan,moan,moan wil have to walk another few hundreds yard. BMBC Finish town centre improvments. Moan,moan,moan, it's ****. ;
How many times have you to be informed Barnsley MBC don't own the crossing and are not responsible for the bridge over the crossing now or the one in the future. The crossing has been shut for health and safety measures.
You would think the council would consider people with disabilities in its design wouldn't you.....oh they have
