I think the obvious reason behind all of this is that Wednesday are skint and I mean really skint.... What’s likely is they can’t afford the additional Matchday costs of accommodating extra away fans especially considering extra policing required for a local derby. This is also despite the fact they are charging silly money for tickets . As far as I am aware they remain under a soft transfer embargo so can’t spend fees on transfers as their signings have been frees or loans. So I would imagine what little money they have has all gone into funding the wages for those signings and they are having to make sacrifices elsewhere.
Might be my suspicious mind, but Newsbot put out there, the other day, about iFollow being available to our fans abroad for this match. Again, maybe it's just me, but I read that as, 'Apart from the lucky 2000 who got tickets, the rest of you need to get to er... Canada, and quick'. They obviously can't encourage folk to do that, but I think the sub-text was discreetly telling us this was the only other option to see the match.
I haven't decided where to go and watch the match. Maybe Italy, I hear its lovely and sadly I've never been.
No, give them 500 in the West Stand North lower tier (so they get wet) and fill the north stand with 5,000 free tickets to school kids and a parent, oh and charge the 500 Wendies £45 each
I have just done a recce on a Greek island seafront bar to make sure their free WiFi is ready for tomorrow.
Love Bologna and Turin, though I can’t stop Rome being my favourite city anywhere. Off to Palermo and Cefalu in September, very much looking forward to it... though I won’t be watching anything on Ifollow ;-)
Just caught something on back end of Look North about Leppings Lane safety certificate. Can anybody enlighten me pls?
Apparently its to do with previous trouble. want to keep the attendance as low as possible. Guess who's punished? The normal fan who goes just to support Barnsley. Incompetent police and stewards as usual. We give them the full away end ill be disappointed in our club.
I inboxed a old army mate who is now SYP ( and a Barnsley fan) asked him what they were up too regarding fans, he said SYP are not responsible for ticket numbers, moving KO time, yes but not this, he's as frustrated as many, including myself. hope we absolutely batter them
Imagine being a club where the local press has to announce things to your 'customers' before you actually release a statement yourself aha.
So looks like they can't have home and away fans in that end, nothing stopping them filling it with Away if they wanted then?
