Spot on. Anyone who claims to have thought he was as good as he ended up at the start is delusional or lying IMO
Interesting piece on Radio 5 this morning. Ian Dowie thinks that we have real potential and will surprise a lot of teams. This was followed by a lengthy interview with Cauley which was pre recorded prior to the Fulham game. Insights in to how he was released by Spurs and going full circle with Sunday league before being picked up again by Fulham. Evidently Cauley asked his coach if he thought Shearer would be any good today? Response was he was the best then and would have been even better now. Almost in shock that the BBC are covering Barnsley FC.
I saw the potential in Connor when he came to us but he was the raw deal make no bones about that . He was all over the shop but some things he did on the ball was class albeit far and few between . I was very impressed with out coaching staff and have had great faith in them since tbh . I thought he would leave us and go on to be a very good player elsewhere never thinking we had the coaching expertise at our club to developing him to become the player he is now .
but we bought Green after selling Potts, also towards the end of the transfer window, hence Brown had already played several games. So your argument is flawed. Also do you think that someone like Stendel would give someone a start if they are not ready?
Green came afterwards yes but what I mean by it been a bit of a fluke with Brown was that Hedges got the nod originally & if he would’ve shown any kind of form he would’ve kept the shirt for a spell & his back up would’ve been Green & we would’ve never seen Brown have that run of games on the right. Because Hedges was really poor Brown got a game & did really well. I’m not saying Stendel didn’t rate Brown, he saw something in him as he’d used his as a striker & a right back but the success on the right wing came out of nowhere. Basically all I’m trying to say is you can’t keep relying on a manager to do something brilliant tactically or get lucky somehow when selling players mid-season. It worked in 2019 but in 2017, 2013, whatever year it was Hammill left originally, the year McIndoe left etc it didn’t work.
Enjoy days like last Saturday they may be more to come but who knows I think a little early to tell C.O.Y.R.
Hope so . I think the captaincy could be a Masterstroke by Stendal and bring the best out of him . There’s a player in there no doubt about it and I think Stendal can orchestrate him .
