It’s where teams like Barnsley belong! I’m actually starting to believe that Barnsley under Cryne and the new lot don’t ACTUALLY want us in the Championship for some unknown reason. Look what happened last time and now again this year. Identical almost.
It seems that our natural place in the scheme of things is either bottom end of Championship or top end of League One. Summat to be said for the latter, and watching a winning team most weeks
If we go down we will come back up. Again we have signed a good L1 side though not as good as the one we had last time we went down.
Reminds of General Melchett on Blackadder. "Doing exactly the same thing we've done 18 times before will be the last thing they expect - this will lull Championship teams into a false sense of security..."
The gap between L1 and the championship is becoming as big as the one between the championship and the premier league. It's becoming clear that we can't expect to sell our best players for several million quid and replace them with 250 grand players and compete in this league. If things don't improve dramatically we could be all but down by Christmas. We look out of our depth.
We have another window. As KM joined us in Jan the last time Also last time, we had "the crab twins" can't remember who christened them, but it stuck with me and Harvey. All loanees. 2 of the three whipped away in Jan. Still not convinced that we would be any better off with last seasons evictees versus the newbies. But none of us will ever know. We were promoted because we had a good league 1 side. Not exceptional, good!
It was never going to be a walk in the park was it? Hoping this thread is like the we'll finish 8th one last season!
Last time we went down we had 2 strikers with a fantastic goal scoring record at that level and 2 midfielders with an equally impressive record. We were an exceptional league 1 team.
I've been watching BFC a good few years and I've never known any team be relegated as early as January, or even before the Christmas trimmings are down!
So have I, about 40 to be precise. I think Reading Red was referring to the reality of the situation, not the mathematical possibility!!
