Why do you think we joined?
So we could give billions away?
Or maybe because the financial rewards we get from being in the EU outweigh the money we put in?
Presumably you think our membership is an act of pure altruism?

People who voted Leave wanted more power over their own lives, not new masters.

If the Remainer MPs had the respect to listen to those that elect them then they would already have come to the realisation that we hold them in the same contempt they seemingly have for us.

Can I ask... what power were you voting for that we currently don't have? What benefit were you wanting from voting that way? Genuinely interested.

I'll just leave this here again.
For those who take pride in Barnsley's huge leave vote.

If mps are having a massive holiday and doing even less work than normal, can I claim some tax back?

I do enjoy the delicious irony of brexit amidst all this.

We want the UK Parliament to be sovereign- applauds when Parliament is by passed.

We want to control our borders - want to leave an open border that literally anyone can walk through.

Condemns unelected bureaucrats in the EU - applauds the. Work of Dominic Cummings and doesn’t realise there is no WTO elections.

Want to get rid of immigration will increase non EU. Immigration

Me too. What I find most shocking is his patronising attitude. He actually believes he's educating the reporter.
And I accept that there will be inevitable accusations of the same flying in my direction.

Dale you are absolutely correct and I'm sorry for dragging my heels here.
TBH Boris seems to have taken everyone by surprise with this announcement. Opposition parties only now trying to get things together and do something. Imo it will be the Irish who will kick off first. Turning the clock back 25 years with civil unrest.
SNP will no doubt be given a major roll in any opposition movement because without our support Labour will struggle. But our support will obviously come at a cost DUP style and full independence will still be our aim. Failure to bend over and accept our demands would ultimately end in tory rule and hard brexit.
This is only my opinion but its not going to be pretty how ever it pans out.

Zero hours contracts are the result of Political and Economical pressures.
To blame just the Tories though is incorrect, it is true that there has been a huge increase in people being offered Zero hours but they have been around for years.
I can recall my Wife having to offer people these in 2004 and me saying they were unrealistic and they would struggle to recruit people, how wrong was I.

Like all things, there are good benefits for Zero hours, like encouraging business growth etc, but for companies like Sports Direct having 90% of its staff on them is wrong and the companies abusing it needs addressing.

Unfortunately, I suspect you would be surprised at just how many people out their work on less than minimum wage as a result of company policies. Some of this is done legally and some not and as you say is not reserved to EU workers

My Father in law once uttered the phrase "at least after brexit we wont have all these ILLEGAL immigrants"
Luckily the wife can't stand him either so we don't often have the pleasure of his company and insight.

There are many business out their that get round it by making the workers go self employed, technically this does not make them employees but the fact remains they end up on much less than minimum wage as a result. As a result most of them never pay taxes etc as they don’t earn enough in the meantime the ‘parent’ company is making millions. The majority of these people are non UK citizens.

Its a fair point re self employed people in the gig economy. But it is still a choice people make to do that or find a different job. It's been going on for ages and its certainly not that modern a thing. But as with so many things. It's feverish consumer demand that fuels this. People must have their necessities of a cheap taxi, and have their food delivered, and they cheap throwaway goods (the more I think about it, Logans Run is the answer!!!)

And yes, I suspect it is non Uk people doing it (Deliveroo especially), though in London, i've seen plenty of students do it as well, and not sure what the demand is in other places. Riding a bike is pretty hard going after all, like many Brits want to do such a thing ;-) But leaving the EU won't solve this, and under this govt, if it endured even a slight period, I can very much see minimum wages repealed and encouragement for such business practices. For me the only way Brexit works is if you compete and undercut the EU and sell your soul in the process. It seems pretty evident the current unelected incumbent didn't even have a soul to sell in the first place!

I think "many" businesses is a bit overkill though. There are supposedly around 3.1m businesses in the UK. I certainly don't know that very many who subcontract their employees. Unpaid interns on short term contracts used to be used, but that seemed to cease a few years ago

The other side of the coin is that as a site carpenter we work as sub contractors most of the time due to flexibility and pay. Most of the time we avoid getting set on like the plague. Different horses for different courses I suppose.

It is funny how people use Zero Hour Contacts at a reason to leave the EU, when the UK is one of the few countries in the EU that allows them unrestricted...

They can work for students, retired, mothers with school-age kids, etc, but I would fully support changing them from zero hour to minimum hour, with a minimum payment irrespective of whether you are needed for work or not.
