You're at work? No problem. We'll wait for your answer after your shift. I'm sure it will be well reasoned and full of facts.

I’m no expert on fish, but I’m pretty sure the decline of our fishing industry was economically important to those affected. But the broader claim was that the eu doesn't impose its laws on us, the fact is that eu law takes precedence.

    Almost all complete nonsense.
So what you said were EU laws are just now fears that might become EU laws.

So when I point out that the EU doesn’t tell us how much benefit your answer is - but they want to!
And it’s not even ‘them’ you’ve just been told about one person who suggested it.

You’ll believe anything that supports your view - no matter how much ‘evidence’ is put forward.

As for fishing? How much overfishing would you be happy with? Just saying; do you understand why we have to limit fishing?

And if we were serious about defending our fishing rights, why do we allow Nigel Farage to represent u when he doesn’t turn up and has a personal aim of ensuring we get a bad deal? And if we were serious about our fishing industry why do we sell our quota to foreigners.

And why do you still blame the EU when faced with these facts.

You know the banana thing was a completely fabricated (by the author’s admission) story in the Times, written by a certain Boris Johnson?!

If you know they don’t tell us how many migrants we have to take (none by the way) why the hell did you write it 30 minutes ago!

You didn’t get interviewed by channel 4 news a while ago by any chance? ;)

It's purely academic but I don't think there were quite enough Labour rebels to put it over the line...it would have put it on a knife edge.. but not close enough.

Some info on Euromyths here, including the famous banana myth. Incredibly, some people believe that the Yes Minister episode about the so-called Euro Sausage is actually true, even though it was entirely fictional.

Yes, but based on the FACT that they tell us what constitutes a sub standard banana. I also understand they’re telling us next how powerful our hoovers can be.

This one really does tell us about how the EU controls our laws. And the effect of the Brexit vote.
The one where the UK government wanted to zero rate sanitary products but the EU law didn’t allow it. So the UK asked the EU to change their law, which they have.
Unfortunately the UK hasn’t had a chance to change the VAT rate on sanitary products yet- because like tonnes of other issues, it’s taken a back seat due to the amount of time parliament has spent on Brexit.

So tell us again how we have no power in the EU?

Thought you were at work and couldn't reply?

If you ok to post, then could you specifically reply (with evidence as back up) to the many questions that you've dodged over the last few days.

    Many thanks.

No; they tell us what constitutes a ‘standard’!
So that every country in a ‘common market’ has an agreed standard. I know!! Bats!

Why would you need to know that a banana in the UK is the same standard as one in France? If you were measuring markets it’d be impossible if standards varied infinitely.

    The broader points are:
That fishing quotas are international and based on the sensible management of fish stocks.

And the UK govt is happy to sell our quota to foreigners.

Nothing whatsoever to do with the EU. But no matter how much that’s pointed out you’ll believe what you want to.

So in response to ‘what laws’ your answer is ‘the ones I’ve imagined they’ll enact in the future’.

    Genius.

But this is what you wrote

“Yes we do, before their power to make our laws starts with how many migrants we have to take, what benefits we have to pay them, how many fish we’re allowed to catch, that sort of thing”

    Seems pretty clear to me.

Can I suggest that people allow this thread to die a natural death now. It has morphed into Trickster v Rest of the World and looks to be going round in circles.
Someone start a new thread please
