https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...fc-was-proudest-moment-of-my-career-1-9966520 Nice read about Kieffer Moore. P.s I did say it was just under £3 million we received and not £4 million, but what does that matter
It doesn't confirm you were right. The Yorkshire Post "believe" the fee to be around £3 million. Other newspapers "believe" differently.
That was a good read until the bit where he thinks he outgrew Barnsley...which led to him signing for Wigan. What a load of cobblers.
To a 26 year old with no prior connection to either club he’s spent most of his adult life with Wigan been a prem / top half championship team who’ve won an FA cup & been in Europe & Barnsley been a bottom third championship club with the odd league one season. I’d imagine he thinks Wigan are a lot bigger than Barnsley. Still think the fee was really poor considering how crucial he was to us & that he had 2 years left on his deal. I would’ve been wanting the difference between championship / league one football which is around £6m which I believe it will cost us selling him.
If he'd come up and done well in the Championship then maybe he could say he had outgrown us. But for a striker who has only ever really performed in League 1 to say he has outgrown any club in the Championship is pretty laughable
He's 27 but I do get where you're coming from in your opening statement. I don't though see how you can call 3/4million really poor. I think he's a loss to us because we don't look to have replaced him. But that fee for an unproven striker at the level at that age looks good business to me and represents both a huge profit and we got a promotion using him. If we are relegated this season I think there'll be more to it than his departure. I think the club have to sometimes gamble as explained in the Rob Zuk thread today. Let's hope they got it right. I look forward to the reactionary amongst us tomorrow night using the result to suggest it proves we were right/wrong to take the money.
I don’t really see him as unproven at this level. He showed enough to me in them 4 or 5 months last time round in the championship to say he’s more than comfortable at this level. I thought some of his link up play was outstanding, McBurnie got the majority of the goals but in the build up Kieffer did a lot of good work. We’ve lost so many assists by selling him as well that he doesn’t get the credit for. I honestly think it’ll be the biggest factor in us going down, or at least not replacing him will be. It’s negligence as far as I’m concerned. I can’t understand how a professional football club in our situation can start a season without a forward who can win a header or hold a ball up. I’m hoping Schmidt or maybe Brown or someone can give us something because I look at Woodrow, Chaplin, Wilks & Thiam & I don’t see any championship centre back been worried about having to mark any of them.
“I loved my time at Barnsley. I can’t speak highly enough of the club. But I think, obviously you grow quite quick and I outgrew my place there.”
I thought he was garbage when he first arrived. You keep speaking as though we've already been relegated which I find strange after five games. I agree he hasn't been replaced and I don't mean like for like, I just mean in general. Schmidt is here but I think even the club have admitted he'd have been here regardless. We clearly missed out on Kulenovic. And finally I disagree regards Woodrow especially because he's definitely Championship quality and I am also sure that all of Chaplin, Wilks and Thiam can and will offer us something this season. Ask me 15 matches in, but I genuinely believe the pessimism from such as yourself is based on five games and in two of those we looked decent. A win tomorrow and it's not been a bad month at all really considering we've so many injuries.
I would have liked him to stay this season. Tbf the clubs hes rumoured to have been interested in/were interested in him probably will finish higher than us. Having said that, in terms of growth I'd think he might have had more scope to do that under Stendel than say Warnock or Johnson. We ll have to see but it was clearly his decision. Just hope he doesn't pop up with the winning goal now he might be playing after all ir this board will really be in meltdown!
Yeah abit patronising especially when he join a club who are the 2nd biggest in wigan and took about twenty odd thousand to a FA cup final a few years back.
I don't think Wigan was his goal (like us key players have been sold) but he can hardly say that can he?
It reminds a little bit of when Spackman arrived... and help me out here ........i think he got rid of Shipperly or someone decent, who was allowed to leave and replaced with an inferior striker, was it Gallen?
Didnt shipperly want to move back down south? Don't think stendel wanted more to leave nor did he pinnock lindsay or davies.
Having read various articles I would hazard his head was turned by the offer from Cardiff, but when he failed his medical there he had decided it was time to move on. I can understand the move to Cardiff, but like others the Wigan one still feels strange.
