It would have been an interesting scenario if he failed several medicals and realised he was doomed to stay with us.

Haha he outgrew us by moving to a smaller club!

Think he means he got to a stage where he could fool some silly bu#%ers into paying him a lot more than he's worth in wages

Shipperley said in the underthecosh podcast that his wife wouldn't move up North so he told them he wouldn't be extending his contract.

My pessimism is based on the transfer window & not replacing Moore.

Performances haven’t helped. I just look at the squad & don’t think it’s suitable. It was tough enough having to start a new season a division higher with an almost brand new defence never mind selling our main striker & only striker who can win headers & hold it up without replacing him.

I think Woodrow’s an excellent finisher & he’ll always score goals if chances are created but I don’t see where they’re going to come from. There’s no way he’ll be able to score a worldie every week like he did against Charlton, I’d have much more faith in him if he’d got a Kieffer Moore alongside him.

If we look at the spell last season when Moore was out injured, we still won a lot of games but barring the odd exception like Southend away they were really hard fought, scrappy wins. We relied a lot more on our solid defence & nicking the odd goal.

We’ve now gone up a league & lost that solid defence whilst not improving the forward line. Wilks & Thomas might end up been better than Brown & Thiam but they aren’t showing much yet & it might take them a while to do so.

He is but it's been reported that he might have a part to play today.

Outgrown a lot of clubs as journeyman Kieffer already on his 8th permanent club by just 27 years of age, plus two loans. He won't ever be that highly regarded anywhere say 20 years down the line because he doesn't like hanging around anywhere too long.

He was being literal not philosophical. He's 6 foot 5 recovering from a head injury. Wigan have taller doors.

Not sure he would be too bothered checking his bank ballance.
Sadly the days of Bobby Hassel as gone forever.
Don't think we will see a testimonial game for a player ever again at our club.
    Sad but money rules .

maybe part of the reason the club sold him was down to medical concerns?

It's a strange article. Spends a decent amount gushing about good we were, then snatches it back with a comment like that. I don't resent him for leaving, but he's deluded if he thinks he has taken much of a step up going to Wigan.

Tbh the best part was how everyone looked out for him after his head injury. That's the sort of place I'd want to work in.

That's a good point. Under contract, had finally settled down and become a regular starter at a club having floated around a bit before he joined us, part of a settled front line that was developing nicely, no doubt already earning the kind of money that would ensure a great life both now and after football, and carefully nursed back to health by the club following what sounded like a potentially career (if not life) threatening injury. And at the first sniff of more money he (and/or his agent) wanted out. A good example of why I despise the game these days.

Another viewpoint is that he was coming to the age when he is aware our owners are wanting to cash in and whilst perhaps they wanted to keep him another year, a club came in with a decent enough wage and he felt this may not still be around in a year.

He may just be trying to get as much coin out of the game as he can, head injury could have made that decision. Would like to know what the specialist advised him abart his career.

That still sounds like it ultimately came down to more money. I thought we wanted him to stay anyway, though who knows as far as our owners are concerned? I've more sympathy for the idea of him looking around at the promotion-winning side he was part of being happily broken up by our asset strippers, and him coming to the same 'what's the point of staying if that's the - doomed - strategy' conclusion many of the fans seem to share.
