I don't understand why England have shown their hand regarding the batting order before the day of the game.
Same for Australia announcing who they are dropping for Smith to return and which bowler they are resting....... https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricke...ce-for-fourth-ashes-test-20190903-p52nbb.html
Carberry was shafted imo. Did ok in that terrible series down under when everyone fell out. Then never picked again. Think he averaged 28 against a fair old bowling attack. What we would give for an opener to average 28 now - although he would have to lose his crash helmet.
Or we can go plan B, get 240ish, hope we bowl the convicts out for less than 100 and that we don't collapse in the 3rd innings. Key thing though, what's the weather like for the next 5 days? September, Lancashire and cricket don't strike me as a great combination sadly.
Smith back now though so imperative that we get him out early. Better get Joffra at him straight away!
5/7 innings in this series Broad has got him now. Warner is absolutely shot. He's been one of the best England players this series with his lack of scores. He's struggling since his return, but they won't dare drop him.
28-2... now we've got two invincibles at the crease. This partnership is going to define the match outcome I reckon.
I'd generally say that too. But seeing as our batting lineup has a tendency to get meagre scores, the convicts getting sub 200 isn't necessarily a crushing blow.
I've not seen much of Overton, but I'm really struggling to see why he's been selected ahead of Woakes (seeing as he's supposedly not carrying an injury as was thought) or Curran. We've numerous players badly out of form, and we leave them in the team and bring in Overton for Woakes. Very strange selection.
Boring. It's like when we play Forest and all the scab this and scab that crap. Let it go FFS. Move on.
