He never wanted a deal he voted against one three times. Wonder what his Commie Advidors thinking now? He’ll be on phone to Putin asking what his orders are.
Except he can’t force an election. That’s now up to Parliament. No doubt there will be an election shortly but maybe not until we have asked for another extension
Got to be an election because somebody needs a working majority, but jeez could be one of the most depressing in history, as far as I can see there's absolutely nobody worth voting for. Maybe in the booths besides the pencils they ought to leave a coin to toss too! Or maybe a pin and make the ballot form like pin the tale on the donkey!
If i recall, some of the recent council elections published results the winning parties were the spoilt ballot party.
So basically 14 defectors. Hmmm!!! iIt would be nteresting to see how many will be 'deselected' by their local offices. It will most likely depend on how the the constituents of those 14 voted in the referendum and subsequent election.
SO presumably there must have been some labour rebels voting for the Govt? I have not seen the figures.
A coalition of Labour, Lib Dem, Green, SNP and Plaid Cyrmu would now have an overall majority of 5 or 6 (Not counting ChangeUK, or the NI parties who could also be involved). Not saying that is going to happen, but there is nothing in principle to stop it - even as a temporary measure to get over the current constitutional crisis.
Fair play to them for putting what they think to be right above their own careers. Makes a nice change from the unprincipled opportunism we've come to expect from politicians.
Completely agree, unlikely I will ever say this again but 21 Tories had my full admiration and respect last night! Wonder if this will lead to a breakaway party.
The same here - I did notice my MP a prominent campaigner for Remain, who then decided to support Mays deal and then was happy to switch to no deal to further his leadership ambitions wasn't one of them. Unfortunately Mr Hunt will get back in at the next election even though Farnham voted remain in the referendum
Thing is how many of them voted against their constituents wishes? Not saying which is right just saying it’s all a right fking mess
To be fair to them, their constituents haven't voted to prorogue parliament and nobody in this country has voted no deal. There are plenty of leavers that do not want a no deal Brexit. I see what the 22 Tories have done yesterday as giving a big two fingers up to the PM and his cronies for their underhand tactics. You are completely right though, it is indeed a mess, but a mess that was needed to trigger changes.
