    Probably because he didn't get picked for the final ashes test.and the fact Somerset are going for the county championship title and wanted to field a strongest team possible.

    Barstow has played in all formats of cricket for England all summer.

    Also think we should look at moving on/releasing some under performing aging players.

    Bresnan will be 35 next season and Patterson 36.

    Bresnan is averaging just 20 with the bat and taken just 6 championship wickets at 43.

    Stevens' performance with the ball in particular sums up the issues with County Cricket at the moment. 43 year old medium pacers shouldn't be having a great deal of success.

    another embarrassing end to season, wonder what the odds were on kent @ 8/3 or 39/5 on 1st morning
    we fluked a 4th last season after being relegation fodder all season, something needs to change
