Not really, we were in prime position so a couple of decent loans or buys would have seen us push on but instead ripped the heart of the side out and the season died by mid February
Your opinion isn’t necessarily the truth old cocker. I accept your opinion, that I’m challenging. It isn’t the truth though. It’s just opinion. I think the club ******* up this summer in the transfer market, I’ve made my opinion clear on numerous threads. But we are up against it at this level regardless and I credit the club for their bold approach. If we stay up this season we’ve done excellently.
So u don't think we had money in the kitty? I've been watching them for nearly 40 years but the buzz and excitement isn't there anymore.
Go have a look at the finances for that year. It's a bad start to a season. On that basis, barring last year, the majority of seasons have lacked both excitement and buzz, no? Is this worse than our most recent relegation season, even?
Got to admit its gunna be a long season, i personally had us darn to finish 24th, bin t'day and we were pretty good they scored against the run of play. We need a goal scorer in January or its gunna be a poor 24th. C.O.Y.R.
Should we just be grateful for having a team at all? Perhaps we'd be better off quitting the EFL and joining the Evo Stik North, maybe we can just about compete at that level. No one expects us financially to be able to compete with most teams in this division, you however, you have to speculate to accumulate a little bit but these owners aren't even willing to do that. If we stay up this season then it will be nothing short of a miracle.
I don't want the club to loan money from the owners: that way Blackpool lies. So whose money should we "speculate" with?
Also, given the debacle with ITV digital and the more recent collapse of both Bolton and Bury: yes, I am grateful to have Barnsley.
Without any further investment all we will ever be at best is a yo yo club between L1 and the championship. Like it or not the owners have to inject some capital for us to compete at this level. As I said before, nobody is demanding they put huge sums in and risk the future of the club but between them they should looking to give us a little bit more so we can at least compete.
I would rather be a yo-yo club than take on owner debt. Owner debt is dangerous and risks the future of the club; I don't want to risk the future of the club. The owners cannot just give the club money. So how much debt should the club take on (from the owners) in your estimation, so that we may progress?
We’d just been promoted so had roughly £6m extra revenue plus Mawson £4m (20% off for Brentford’s sell on) & the Stones sell on fee of between £7 & £8m so money wasn’t an issue that season
goldthorpe red........just dont go anymore. If you've lost interest just don't go any more. It really is that simple. Stay away.
