So I'm 55 never smoked dont drink but have high blood pressure and I take ramaprill for this. Every since I've started taking this my blood pressure is normal. I have been quoted £39 per month for £30000 also I have £10000 critical injury cover. Does this sound about right

If it’s whole of life insurance then that sounds a reasonable price. If there’s a term on it & it finishes at 75/80 or something like that then I’d say it’s not.

It is life cover till 90 critical illness till 70. Premium will go down at 70 when illness cover stops. Premium now is 20 for life cover and 19 for illness. I did shop around with compare the market. This wasn't the cheapest but was only a few quid dearer and with aig through legal and general. Big companies who I've heard of

As you get older would the amount of life insurance you need decrease?

That used to be the case with mortgage protection policies, where the amount of cover declined as your residual mortgage balance did. I don't know if they are still in vogue.

My usual advice applies here: click through a cashback site first (e.g. Quidco).

Be very careful when filling any questionnaire for medical cover. Friend had critical illness cover - developed a severe illness - cover declined because he hadn't disclosed on the form that he had suffered what he thought was a harmless and minor condition many years previously. This minor condition was a precursor of the severe illness that developed.
I'm not sure on this but I think you can get all your medical records and submit them to the Insurance Company when taking out any sort of medical cover.
