I can't believe how many of our fans are so quick to belittle and demean the achievements of our Head Coach. In the Summer of 2018, this board was full of posters demanding we appoint a Head Coach or manager with Division 1 experience, as that was the only type of gaffer who could possibly win promotion, according to them. Others still said we'd face another battle against relegation, as the entire squad had a losing mentality and nothing would change that. After the defeat at Wycombe in December, posters were lining up to claim we wouldn't even make the top half of the table. We didn't lose again until April when we were beaten by Burton. However, the criticism was there again. This time claiming we'd blown automatic promotion and it'd be impossible to go up through the Play Offs, as we weren't good enough.
I back Daniel Stendel 100% and believe he has the ability to change the current situation. I'm certainly not going to turn on him because of this bad spell.
Others can say what they want, but they certainly don't speak for me.

We didn't turn on Flitcroft or Hecky and look where that got us. Sentiment gets you nowhere in football. You're only as good as your previous result. Barnsley are famous for getting rid too late.

I'm not saying I want him sacked next week but I'd hope the board were looking at the international break objectively should we lose our next two matches.

Really? I believe it's more of the modern way of thinking that no manager is allowed to have a bad spell without automatically getting the sack. When his replacement faces the same situation, then he too gets sacked. Rinse and repeat.
I despise this approach and am quite happy to stand alone against this self defeating mantra.

And they're both called Daniel. Scarily uncanny! For me personally I loved last season and all our time under DW.

Really? Which amazing manager/coach do you think will be rushing to take the role?

You at least have one other person who thinks time and patience can often be more effective than just a change of face.

How ever long Daniel wants to be here is absolutely fine with me. I think we need less pressure on the players and coaches. They've been given a very difficult challenge that will only be solved by time and persistence.

I know its not easy to be patient, self included, but we have little else we can do.

I just think this mob don't want another relegation on their cv.

At this stage i'd rather let Stendel have a full season in the championship and go down trying to further implement his style of play whilst testing himself than sack him by christmas and end up back to square one.

How can we as a fanbase complain about players/managers wanting to move on as quickly as possible when we are talking about sacking a promotion winning manager (with record points total and a fantastic brand of football) 9 games into the season?

    me too.

if we are going down this route we should stick to the plan.

i would be surprised if it worked, mind. However it is a long term strategy and to bin it half way through would be rather self defeating.

I don't think we'll get the choice. I don't want him to be sacked. However, I'd rather him sacked if we continue to lose matches. I wouldn't bet against the board having somebody else lined up if the rumour is true he nearly joined Huddersfield and offered his resignation after the Leeds game.

Exactly that. I like the bloke but all he's done so far is get us back promoted with one of the best squads and highest budgets in league one. This is the season to judge him on and the jury is still out with some of his selections and playing guys in the wrong position.

I don’t think that would happen on a permanent tbh , maybe caretaker for a few games if they haven’t t lined anyone up but according to their philosophy they have someone in mind for every position in the club and fall backs .
Don’t know how true or advanced this is but I’d wager they’d have someone in line in case .
Daniel came with a strategy , a plan he wanted to implement throughout the club from first team down .
I don’t think Dale would have the experience or strategy in such a short time that the board would want but hopefully have a future at the club ,
All my opinion of course but a statistics based philosophy will have someone in mind .

I know it's not related but I always get a gut feeling when it comes to managerial departures and the feeling of apathy is in the air and that's never a good sign. The thread "Done" sums this up perfectly.

When a football club looks at itself and says we need to do something it invariably starts by changing coaching personnel.

It's the Plan that needs changing not the manager, as pretty much everyone can see, including the manager but excluding the board.

The owners fetched Stendell in because they wanted to play a certain way with players they had fetched in through their recruitment strategy, chucking him a bone to let him fetch 1 or 2 players of his own choice.

Sacking him would be their failure not Stendells, maybe changing tack and playing a different way would bring him instant dismissal for not doing what he was brought in to do.

Coming out of the ground sunday I heard one bloke say to his mate, he has to go if things don't change. Well I'm not so sure this time. When hecky was here I wanted him gone before Leeds came we hadn't won for 2 month, watching his football was like having teeth pulled, and I thought with the group of players he had available a experienced manager would have kept us up.

I don't think a change in manager would make a difference, we haven't got a target man yo hold the ball up to go direct, we sit back and defend and we would concede and we don't score many. I just don't think the squad is good enough.

The owners have to take the blame for me, in the summer window priority should have been safety but instead profits came 1st.

It doesn't help when the Head Coach & Owners appear to have differing objectives. One wants success on the field, the other is more profit driven.
