Dreadful news. It felt really strange seeing & hearing people screaming & shouting in joy when we equalised when on my left I could see someone receiving CPR. All I could manage was a clap. Real mixture of emotions at the time & now a last minute equaliser means nothing after hearing this news. R.I.P.
Rest In Peace that man. A could clearly see from east stand he was receiving CPR and I felt sick and sad to see what was happening
RIP to one of our own. Horrible events yet again at Oakwell and near to the day one year on. Best wishes to any family and friends connected. Maybe a bit raw but maybe a fans collection could be arranged to help the family in anyway they deem suitable?
Horrible to watch! Was hardly watching the game as I was just stood wishing for the poor bloke. Equaliser went in, I made some sort of noise when then that was it. Just was hoping and wishing for the bloke receiving CPR. R.I.P mate.. :,(
Could have been but he gave no details about the person so rightly kept it vague enough that someone reading it wouldn't get a shock at realising it's someone they know. Still cannot believe the game wasn't stopped and that it wasn't treated the same as last season with Stephen Croft. Regardless of if the match has started or not, if they decide it's serious enough to hide what is happening, it should be stopped. The players should have been taken off and a Air Ambulance brought in. A so called rapid response vehicle with the siren on was arriving after full time. That was long after the fan was taken ill.
I'm sure the game wouldn't have taken precedence over this persons life. I was in the Ponty and I thought it was to do with some crowd trouble, the players were unaware of it as I was until the announcement as we were leaving about an ambulance.
Very sorry to hear of this, I had already agreed to go to a gig at the O2 in Leeds tonight with friends, booked long before the fixture list came out., so wasn't there. I hope a fitting tribute can be arranged. At a football match communication is bad. I got the wrong end of the stick with the Stephen Croft incident was going on. Something I regret massively, but was totally unaware of at the time. Not good, but we can all learn & give some love. Love to all. Sometimes the facts are not clear to everyone at the time. It is hard for the club to communicate it too at such times. I'm sure everyone at BFC is feeling for you though.
If the reaction was perfect last year then I'm imagining the same group of people reacted similarly this time also.
We all talk about heroes we have heroes on the pitch last night, they all don’t fly in the sky or wear a cape However let’s stop and think a little The real heroes were the ones in that stand last night everyone involved from the st johns the stewards supporters and the paramedics It’s you who are HEROES RIP it hurts to know you never went home to your loved ones
There was enough medical staff there to make the right call. If the game needed to be stopped or abandoned it would have been - like it was last year. Sometimes you just have to make them stable and comfortable and restrict any movement if not urgently required. There’s always an ambulance at the back of the West Stand. It’s likely the Responder vehicle was actually bringing a Doctor in to assess him before being moved. I’m glad we scored a last minute equaliser in front of him to give him a better send off. Only small thing, but it’s something if that makes sense.
Chaplin has deleted both his RIP and has first tweet celebrating point. Ben Williams has also deleted his.
