For me it is the whole not the sum of the parts that’s the key here. I disagree with your inference that they would’ve been no good and it wouldn’t have mattered as that is what your trying to say as I’m reading that. The most important thing is these players knew how each other ticked, played, they had already gelled together. We didn’t have to sell let’s remember here. Whatever’s happening to them since is of no importance as Barnsley’s always had players who’ve played well then rubbish or not featured when sold on. Now we are left with untried kids from other clubs who still don’t know each other from Adam, this for me is the key reason we are absolutely dire and bottom of the league. Had we kept those players, yes, we’ll never know how we’d have faired but I believe we’d be nearer the middle of this league, albeit bottom half rather than looking dead Certs for the drop again.
Woodrow signed in January. They weren’t our 3 best players. The squad isn’t ‘no good’, it’s just a bit lacking in key areas. The sentiment is there but it’s a poor article.
There we go then ****** into a crocked hat. Looking forward to a weekend in Exeter or a cabbage pie at forest green.
We are having a decent half an hour here and there, because weve got 11 fit young runners on the pitch but overall they are miles out of their depth and it will show in the long run. I love optimism but the truth is right in front of us.
So who and how do you think we are going to fix these problems? I see no white knight on the horizon. This lot aren't going to spend any of their own brass so we're stuck with what we've got.
That’s an excellent article. It doesn’t matter whether people think these players will ‘come good’. That’s not the point. The real point is that the Club is being mismanaged. It has a philosophy that is deeply flawed, an approach to player sales/acquisitions that is suicidal and a leadership that is running a sporting association as if it were a car boot sale. Until those things change, nothing will.
It’s 11 games. Christ. Only four years ago we saw crazy transformations. I’m behind the club, my club. I’m saddened by recent events but is October. What is the point without hope and faith?
That's not really the point is it. It's a matter of opinion who our best three players were anyway. There will be lots of different answers to that one among the fan base. The three positions concerned are the important issue, at the spine of the team. A central defensive partnership and the target man have been replaced with three 21-year-olds with no experience of the league.
