The owners have said they want to establish the club in the Championship and then push for the Premier.
All what has happened here is that they have greatly underestimated the strength of the Championship.
The directors experiment of building a young inexperienced team has not worked.
Many of us in the summer had doubts that it would.
The directors recruitment policy shows there is a certain lack of knowledge at board level.
I believe a Maurice Watkins type of person on the board would greatly help these directors.
A person that knows people throughout the English game - someone that can give advice to the board.

The players that have been brought in have got a bright future - but its evident that certain playing positions have not been strengthened as they should have e.g. replacement of a target man.
However, discovering that certain positions need strengthening is part of the normal process when building a team from scratch.

It has also become evident that these young players quickly lose their confidence when things aren’t going right.
In hindsight a few older heads MAY have been a remedy to stem that lack of confidence.
In saying that - there was never a suggestion to bring in older players.
When Daniel Stendel and Dale Tonge talked about bringing in experienced players - they made it clear that they wanted young players with experience at Championship level - they made it quite clear they were NOT talking about older players.

I hope and believe that these owners will steady the ship and they will achieve success.
In the meantime it looks like another relegation before things can be put right.
Getting rid of Daniel Stendel in my opinion was a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

I’m not sure that giving the directors and CEO any more hassle will improve the situation.
They will already know the bad feeling around the town and amongst the supporters - and will fully understand that they have made a quite disorderly start to their ownership of Barnsley.

But they need to come out and say that! We just want abit of honesty and maybe they can start to re build the damage that has been done.

I would agree with all that if the board had shown any sign of learning from their mistakes. But they haven’t. THey have refused to sign DS any free agents. They have obviously refused to back him with what he feels necessary in the January window. The CEO lasts interview he said the club would not deviate from the plan. Everyone is entitled to make mistakes but you learn from them. This is their second bite at the championship and it’s same old same old.

Even if something has happened we don’t know about - DS walked, he slagged off Chien Lee, whatever, the statement released I find unforgivable

There’s something to be said about continuity.
I always thought that Patrick would have benefited from retaining John Dennis as a director.
And believe these owners would benefit from retaining Maurice Watkins as a director.

Im sure the board will be releasing a statement when things have settled down.

    Understatement of the YEAR.
    Unrecoverable in my eyes.

Do you think they are listening to the people who have a good insight into whats needed in the championship? Are they capable of holding their hand up with i got it wrong statement? Is this a one off? Is Dane really making the decisions as a CEO? Daniel wasn't perfect but cared and i thought was a great fit for the club. Hecky couldn't get out quick enough and theres a reason for that.

So how have they misjudged the demands of the championship with so much advise, quality staff, etc to guide?

    Agree. Madness

And neither will they allow the new 'Head Coach'. Their single biggest arrogant mistake.

The very definition of madness. A slight deviation from a successful plan was all that was needed. I worry that every man and his dog could see this. But the owners couldn't (or wouldn't). The very epitomy of arrogance.

Spot on icer, how do we learn in the real world ?by paying attention to history.
For successful business people their bullish way of carrying on frankly concerns me.
They almost seem to be saying "we know whats happened but we are telling you, how to be succesfil"
The only success i see at the moment is the bank balance. The comparisons with Nice very much concerns me.

They care about money and there's more money in the championship than league 1.

They don't want relegation and I'm sure we'll see some kind of reaction to that affect in January.

Im trying to figure things out as i go. I feel the club has now especially with stendel lost its connection to fans. I cant believe everything is rosy on the training pitch, in the offices, around the club either. I dont see the CEO making decisions. Any good business is close to its customers. My interpretation is that they want to purely run the club stand alone and nothing from their pockets. They wont be like Cryne and put money in here and there. To achieve that they have gone all in on the only assets we have, young player resale value. This is high risk as the resale value is dependant on the worth of the player and our ability to generate a return. Maybe the promotion season from L1 to the Champ is our sweet spot in terms of cashing in. I think offering up a competitive side who incrementally establishes itself, builds towards top half and beyond in the Championship is secondary.

I really hope so and as I said any new manager will do it their way. Hopefully they will get listened to as well by the board.

Nudger, do you really think that these directors and board deserve respect or patience.
They have blatantly in an unspeakable manner removed a very good coach for Barnsley FC in a manner that deserves nothing but contempt
I personally having had my own business, would not deal with them, because I would be looking over my shoulder as to when they were going to sell me down the river

I said I was torn about the decision but on reflection I can't believe the Board would be so stupid to get rid of a coach who still has the backing of the fans........there has to be more to this that hasn't come out yet and the silence is deafening.

Whether they deserve it or not is irrelevant, they hold the purse strings, they are in charge, that's as far as it goes.

They don't want your respect or patience, they also don't care about your anger or your contempt, it's meaningless to them.

In light of the very last sentence I am unsure that the CEO and board do understand what British football is about and the depth of feeling of what the Club and fanbase and how it sits within the community is about. Four months ago I had a long chat with someone in the Club who said the players, coaches, Stendal, medical team and non playing staff were a really 'happy ship' (his words), but there was a yawning gap between them and the owners in understanding and acceptance of the Board/owner's style of managing. There was a deal of frustration then and clearly things have not improved.

I would imagine that the directors have been astounded by the level of support behind DS.
How many other managers/head coaches would have such support there is for Daniel.
The problem now is that it has been done and there will be no way of reversing the decision - I’m pretty sure the board wouldn’t do it and if you were DS would you trust them again!
My opinion is they’ve made a monumental mistake but unfortunately we have to move on. I have an unshakable regard for DS but ultimately I’m Red forever.

    Agree with this 100%.

They failed to learn from last time in the Championship, which is annoying.

BUT, they own the club, and overall I think they have done well - also they have stuck to what they said they would do. Annoying with the lack of experience, but they never promised that, did they.

Be careful what you wish for - Chansiri and the Oystons soon got fed up of the hassle......
