I think the problem for Devaney or Hassell is that they’ve lived in the area for about 15 years, kids go to school here & they seem in settled jobs where they’re very popular with the fans. You take on a head coaches job & it doesn’t work out & then you’re screwed, you can’t go back to looking after the academy or U23’s & you want to carry on living in the area but need to find work
Not true that is it? He did lengthy interviews with Sky Sports and Radio Sheffield recently. Was vocal enough on arrival and did something with Leon from the Yorkshire Post. And he attended a fans forum where every question posted on here was asked and answered. Whilst the silence is deafening and frustrating right now let's make sure we're being real with our view of things. I also think his remit as CEO is very, very different to that of GG which is why Paul Conway still features regularly.
That's interesting... whats the difference you've seen/heard/perceive from GG's tenure? I think the new guy (sorry, genuinely don't recall his name at all!) had a background in the analytics side and modelling at DC didn't he? Certainly not a legal one like GG and BM before him.
I'm completely speculating and interpreting things for myself, but I got the impression his role might be shifted more towards scouting, recruitment and the academy, where GG would put his name to the more day to day activities at the club.
So PC is still actively involved at the club in some forms of a CEO role? Did someone also suggest Zuk was more involved in Ops, not just Finance?
As I said before, I have no idea. But he's still down at the club fairly regularly by all accounts and took it upon himself to be down at the FanZone and to release the 'most successful transfer window' statement. I think Rob's title changed to General Manage rather than just finance, but again I can't be 100% certain.
Fair enough. I don't listen to Radio Sheffield or read the Yorkshire Post and I also didn't see the Sky Sports piece. I stand corrected but based my statement on what he's said on our website, which is next to nothing. His predecessors, Ben Mansford and GG, were far more engaging with the fans.
To be fair to him he's only had the job for five months. Was GG more engaging, or did GG (or more importantly the people working at the club) create more opportunities for him to come across as more engaging? Huge difference.
Remember Hecky saying exactly that when he got the job as caretaker. Once you take the top job you are limiting your time at the club it's so rare for a coach to stay in a role for any reasonable length of time now.
Another day on, and still no answers. Interesting that one party in this dispute can hold his head up in public whereas the other side dare not show their faces.
Ignoring the rights and wrongs of the sacking, can’t believe that anybody in power at the club would allow the current PR nightmare to fester on
I think there's more to this situation than we currently know. Can't put my finger on it, but I think something's going to happen...
Well one of my questions was whether the owners still regard their vision for the club as workable. You would be hard pushed to find a much better head coach at bringing the players on and developing them. So what happens next? Heckingbottom was also good with young talent, progressing the Lee Johnson playbook. He couldn't do it when the best players were sold from under him. Morais failed, even with the addition of McBurnie. Daniel has now had his best players sold. Impossible to achieve the stated aim of Championship stability working like this, so logically, the owners have to modify their approach or look to exit the club, recovering what they can of their initial investment. If they were going to modify their approach one assumes that Daniel would still be here, so the only thing that makes sense to me is that they must be considering getting out of the club. If they are going to plod on like this, frustrating head coaches and fans alike, then I cease to be interested. I actually suspect that players coming here are looking towards getting out for a more lucrative deal even before they've joined us - we advertise that that is our way of working.
You're not going to hear a response from the club on specific questions like you posted on the BBS. Don't disagree with your synopsis of the past, the present, and the future, but there's literally zero chance of them reading some questions on the BBS and putting out any kind of announcement in response. As I mentioned yesterday, my gut feel is that their response to the Trust statement, the bombardment on Social Media from fans, and the articles from local and national press slamming their 21 word 'goodbye', will be to appoint another Head Coach ASAP and try to brush it all under the carpet.
