    Pakistan = "Paki". However, you haven't used that example because it's clearly an ethnic slur. As is "jap". I doubt I'm going to change anyone's mind and I've got a good book I want to finish so I won't bother wasting my Sunday by responding to any further posts on the subject.

    Isn't it just that people are just too thin skinned these days? Being called a Jock or sweaty sock really does not bother me. Even a Scottish ******* I take no offence. But please do not call me English. LOL.

    question is, do YOU call people from finland fins etc, if you do your argument falls on its a--se, when people usually use the word paki its meant in a derogatary way, the original post was obviously meant in banter, for heavens sake just take things in the context that they,re meant....

    That's my exact point and the reason your argument doesn't hold up. "Japs" and "paki" are used as derogatory terms. The term "Fin" isn't. And I acknowledged there was probably no malice in the original thread title but still such language should and could be avoided whether it's intended as "banter" or not. I tried to politely state this and the poster then just resorted to name calling. Never gonna finish this book am I.
