Massive rumour going around the gospel of truth that is Twitter....loved him as a player but I hope not, could be that they going to give the job to Murray and Redfearn is coming as youth coach...2+2 = 5
He was one of the greatest players and captains to ever play for Barnsley FC and i wouldn't like him to come into the club at this time when the atmosphere around the place will be toxic due to Stendels departure. At this moment i feel any manager coming in will be at a disadvantage due to the clubs poor form and the already mentioned Stendel leaving.
Would be a pretty underwhelming appointment. Doesn't seem to have done anything at club level and unlike Stendel I would struggle to attach a clear footballing philosophy to him.
Would love Redders to be back here in some capacity, just like Stendel leaving it hasn't tarred my view of him and him getting us relegated wouldn't make him any less of a legend in my eyes. I can see the bigger picture. Can't get excited about any new boss to be honest for that reason.
If this is true surely it is an attempt by the board to appease the fans who, in the majority, are fecked off about the way Daniel was treated and this is an attempt to recover some credibility, which will be very hard to do.
If they wanted to appease the fans they should hire someone who has got a better managerial record then Neil. Get him back in as a coach for the academy in some prospect, show the kids what they can achieve if they knuckle down and take this football lark seriously. But don't get him back as the first team head coach. I want to remember him as our premier league captain and midfield general, not a man on the sidelines who was trying to swim upstream when it's an absolute river of sh*t pulling him back down.
I want to remember the greatest ever as the fantastic player he was and not risk his legacy by being part of what the club is currently like. Plus his managerial record is poor.
i firmly believe there is no solution for the first team whilst we continue to do what we do. a coach is just there to coach the players given to him. it might work, it might not. does it really matter who gets the job
people can do all sorts with photoshop these days. i seriously hope not though. would be a terrible move IMO.
It would be a purely populist move... and would compound their ridiculous sacking and commentary, and, undermine any assertion that a robust plan is at the heart of decision making. I'd be hugely surprised if such a thing would happen.... but then I didn't see Daniels sacking coming either.
My favourite BFC player. Easily the most committed and one of the best players ever in a Barnsley shirt. Not sure about him managing but I suppose we could take a gamble on seemingly better but relatively unknown candidates.I'd be surprised if it's true though. Probably a wind up. On another note - how on earth did we keep him for so long? In this day and age he'd have been gone after one season.
It would be romantic and his work with youngsters is well known. But I’m not sure I’d want him to risk his status with the fans and I don’t for one minute think he’s on our radar.
